I have no desire for the Internet to be censored in any capacity but people need to be mentally equipped for some of the absolutely insane shit that can be found herein.
and you can tell because of how they're behaving with this new medium, with social media and so on, how it's basically NOTHING LIKE RL interactions with these very same people. They go on Twitter or whatever and say stuff that absolutely no one in their right mind would say to someone else's face.
The problem isn't really the Internet per se, it's that human brains are largely ill-equipped to handle so much of this so damn fast. There is a DELUGE of information coming off the Internet and somehow most people you see on the Internet can't seem to parse it or react to it in any fashion even CLOSE to rational or measured.
We're playing catch-up and going through teething troubles with a new medium and there's a very real possibility that some government fuckwads are going to find a way to successfully argue that people will NEVER be able to handle this so it should be regulated to a fare-thee-well and that's arguably been going on for a while
And for the record, as recently as like 2 years ago or so there was this "poster printing/selling" site (actually an image scraper) that had managed to scrape pictures of everything from actually copyrighted artwork to photos of little boys in the nude. Not like innocent "kids running through the sprinkler" shit either.
All of this can be solved by creating a separate net for the underageb&. The information superhighway can't hurt anyone above 100 IQ so instead of censoring it, just don't let them use it. Even if you compare the internet to having the entire world within walking distance from your house, parents are still to blame for their kids going to Afghanistan and getting groomed. Especially since no one can actually hurt you on the internet as opposed to RL.
Too many words. All I got was children are retarded and should get off the internet, and parents should feel bad if they let their child on anytime before they enter highschool.
