06/16- Chris reminisces about Bob - Turns it into CPU goddess shit

I feel like Bob did the best within his abilities to raise Chris. Not saying it was good, but he came from a generation lacking in understanding autism and how to properly work with it. He probably thought he could have Chris grow up as a normal kid and the autism would just go away.

He took Chris out just about every weekend to Burger King(has Chris sperged about the BK long being torn down and replaced?) and around town to spend time together. He tries instilling in Chris a responsibility with money(which we all know spectacularly failed). When Chris had fucked up with his credit cards he did bail Chris out by paying them off and cancelling them. Of course, Chris being a little weasle would open up new ones. He pushed Chris towards an associates in college that he felt Chris would be good at since it involved drawing and it would have been a steady career if Chris wasn't a dipshit.

Bob nurtured Chris in a way you would expect parents of neurotypical children to do. Unfortunately Chris isn't that and unfortunately because of that he didn't get the actual nurturing he needed for his autism. I don't necessarily consider Bob a horrible parent to Chris, just blissfully ignorant to what should have happened.

This of course doesn't speak about Bob's character. He was an intelligent man, but seemed to have had racist tendancies and was paranoid about the school system. He had two previous adult children who hadn't spoken to him for a decade or more which suggests that Bob had a rocky past with them. Out of all the CWCistory, I would love to know the real story behind Bob's kids and Cole and why they cut ties with their parents. It would definitely give a much better background to what kind of people Bob and Barb were outside of Chris.

Speaking of being responsible with money, do you know if Chris is planning on attending Brony-con this year?

As far as I remember, Cole hated Bob because he felt Bob turned Barb against him. Then again, he also hated Barb. I doubt any one really knows why he hates either of them. Cole him self is still fairly immature. I get a feeling he basically raged about Bob because he was Mama's number one boy, then mama got knocked up and he wasn't the number one boy.

There's some indication Cole has some mental issues him self, though if the stories of abuse were true, I don't think he was born with them as Chris was. Honestly, it seems pretty clear from what he has said, and what we've seen of Barb, she was kind of a town drunken skank who abused him. The hatred is deeply rooted and probably well founded.

And Bob was old as hell for parenting when Chris came around. I think he knew it, and he also knew he had utterly fucked up with his previous kids relationship wise. So he wanted to be the good dad and have at least one kid talk to him. Further more, his two previous kids were both highly successful. One is an eye specialist, the other was/is working for the Federal Government. So what ever else he did, he likely instilled a strong work ethic into his children, a drive to succeed.

I also wouldn't be surprised if his version of teaching his children to succeed included beating them. Ultimately, I feel he wanted Chris to have the same drive to succeed in life, and it failed..and when he realized it, he stopped giving a damn.

Since all OC's are supposed to be real,living,beings...does Chris believe he will see Bob again after the merge? As a plaid-beaver-monstrosity,with a boner?

I'm sure there was a fondness for each other to a degree but nothing else besides what was built on mutual desperation.
I'm not even sure there was all that much fondness there, as opposed to the mutual desperation. At the time CWC made his infamous Christmas video, Bob and Barb were sleeping in separate rooms and, even when they were awake, seemed to spend a lot of their time in different parts of the house and away from each other.

Maybe it's an abstract reference to the 'cutting it down' lumberjack meme?
Chris? Thinking abstractly? :lit:

While it's a cute idea, the whole concept of going from Bob to "internet lumberjack" to "lumberjacks wear plaid and cut down trees" to "beavers also cut down trees" to "beavers are sort of like animal lumberjacks" to "Bob Beaverchu wears plaid" sounds like far too many mental leaps for Chris to make.

The sad part is Bob chose the fraggle rock dvd but Chris whined and gave him the VHS tapes instead, such a selfish prick and dumb too for buying the same thing on different formats, he will never change.
Chris bought the Fraggle Rock DVD set for himself, did a cheap copy of the set onto VHS tapes, and then guilt-tripped Bob into taking the tapes because Chris wanted the pristine version for himself.

Couldn't even copy something the old man would have liked, he just made a quick copy of his DVD of fraggle rock. Chris....fun for the whole family doesn't mean fun for everyone not older than seven :story:
I know, right? It's almost as if Chris has some kind of condition where he doesn't have the theory of mind to understand that everyone doesn't have the same likes/dislikes as him.

I guess there will be no chance the Bob tapes be ever released to the public. But if someone had seen it before, can you describe what the tapes are about, and why the tapes shouldn't be released.

What would Bob have liked? John Wayne movies? Slim pickings or Buddy Holly CD's:thinking:

Cole hates Barb to this day because she was a bad parent, let another person punish him, and lied to him about who his biological father was. His hatred towards Bob seems secondary at least. He was a Punk Rocker that wanted to rebel a lot growing up according to the CWCki, and I doubt that ever really went away when you couple Barbs Parenting, Bobs Indifference, and a “career” critiquing films. Yeah he played a few rock gigs and his movie reviews have garnered attention but ultimately he’s not much better imo.

My impression is that Bob mishandled Chris-Chan's issues, maybe thinking he was in a heartwarming TV special about a mentally challenged boy who makes good because of his parents. And I've got to say we're not seeing much sign his other children miss him.

I think he knew his failures by the time he died, and I don't think he deserved that.

I haven't seen it but it seems pretty obvious that it's very personal, very sad, too humanizing, ect. There's not really anything to gain from it either, we've seen Chris sad and we've seen him cry, the Bob tapes just take that to a darker level.

Mocking someone for drawing their dead dad as a beaver-mouse-hedgehog Pokemon and changing the official colors of it because drawing checkerboard patterns is "too time consuming and hard" can be funny. Mocking someone who is just seriously mourning the loss of a parent is quite a bit more cruel, no matter who the subject is. There have been some pretty horrible things done to Chris, like it's fair to say having him shove the medallion pieces up his ass is probably going too far, but making a joke out of just him crying his eyes out because he lost his father would go past anything else done to him. It's just a line drawn of what's too much or not.
