I thought it was pretty well admitted here in America we did some nasty things to the natives.
One thing I will say is that many of us Jews love to believe we're the only victims of the Holocaust. Erasure of the Romani, homosexual, Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, and political victims is disturbingly common. We shouldn't forget about the other six million victims - it's our duty to remember them as if they were our own.
But does Phil know about them? More importantly, does he even care?

We had a whole thing about the Trail of Tears in fourth grade American history. Which was an important fact to learn about.
We also did a thing about the Manzanar internment camp in fifth grade. Also important to learn about.
I'm not even going to get started with Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Sojourner Truth, whom we studied every year. Again, important historical figures. And of course Martin Luther King, Jr.
So, Hooves, were you just not paying attention in elementary school? Because if my shitty little 99.95%* white country town could get it together to teach about this stuff...
*There was one Filipina lady in a town of 2,000; everyone else was white.
Kind of makes me wonder why no one teaches the Armenian genocide. I mean, it's like the Holocaust and the Trail of Tears rolled into one; the Turks didn't want Christian non-Turks living in their pan-Islamic, pan-Turkish state, so they got rid of them.

We had it in high school World Civilization (which was mostly war and genocide, so "civilization" was clearly a euphemism). But I grew up in Massachusetts, which has tons of Armenian émigrés, so they may have lobbied the school systems to include it.Kind of makes me wonder why no one teaches the Armenian genocide.
