I don't think that it's so much that they're different, but they're different in such a way to be incompatible. Many modern Muslims move to a new country and fully expect to be catered. They want to retain their culture and expect the native culture to bend around it and adapt to them -- but they refuse to adapt in kind.

On the other side of the spectrums, Sikhs also have a different culture than western nations, but not one that is incompatible. Sikhs generally want to retain their own cultural identity, but don't shun native culture and freely open their doors for other cultures to visit them and vice versa. Their culturr is generally one of openness. Gurdwaras are some of the coolest places I've ever been, because everyone there will treat you like an honored guest. Plus you'll get a free meal. Neat.

If Islam hadn't undergone a shift from Salafism and a violent split between Shia/Sunni, I don't think we would have half the problems we have today. Islam jumped the tracks a long time ago.
