Daniel is an "activist" who is friends with hippy pacifist Charles Johnson, one of the big players in the Portland Occupy scene. Before Charles unfriended Phil for his violent and racist views, Daniel would see Phil's ramblings because Charles would share, comment, and tag Phil in random posts.
Daniel is normal and incredibly stupid, and likely sees Phil as an "oppressed womyn" who needs his love and support.

Now that I think of it, Phil has already lost. He's lost the chance to ever live a normal life, and this fucking idiot is so batshit crazy that he doesn't even realize it. He'll never have a job, friends, a home, a family that loves him. He won't even ever have a pet that loves him. He's doomed to live on the streets until he breathes his last breath.

This. This sums up exactly why Phil is possibly the most depressing lolcow of them all. He was always a bit of a weirdo, because when we were first exposed to him he was just a gay weeaboo... nothing inherently wrong about that, and there's nothing wrong with emulating the characteristics of a character you look up to. The problem is that we should take away the GOOD aspects of these characters... such as how, say, Goku from Dragonball Z puts 100% into everything he does and does his best to make the most of a situation.
Not Phil. Phil took away the worst possible aspects from fictional characters to the point there was nothing left of himself. There was no more individuality any more... he became just a living, breathing parody of everything he likes. I pity him, even knowing he's become a horrible person with no future, and everyday I wonder what a miracle would look like in Phil's life. It's doubtful he'd even take it.
