A 13-year-old artist named Nana Hoshiki made her debut in the March 2019 Bessatsu Margaret Magazine, which went on sale on February 13. Hoshiki was the winner of Bessatsu Margaret's 609th "Manga School" competition, which is held every month for the purpose of debuting new artists. Her 16-page manuscript, titled The Tidings of Snow (Inshin no Yuki), was published in the magazine.

The manga tells the story of a girl who doesn't like or dislike anything. One day, she waits at the station with a cheerful boy and realizes that maybe she does like snow after all.

Although Bessatsu Margaret regularly holds manga competitions aimed specifically at middle school and high school students, Hoshiki's submission is notable because it won the regular monthly competition with no age restrictions. Readers have praised her high-quality, which is impressive even among adult artists.

Bessatsu Margaret publishes a debut work from a new artist every month. Story manga submissions must be 16 pages, while gag manga submissions must be between 8 to 16 pages.

I hope she doesn't break.I remember a 18 year old author who got sick during his serialization in a manga magazine.
Also, she is more successfull and better artist with 13 year old than all the carrercow artist who have a thread here.

Remember, it's a one-shot debut. So the poor girl hasn't been serialised and now running on a hideous monthly clock or anything.

This seems like a cute story from the premise and would make an interesting story if pushed into a small-run series.

The fact she won the non-age restricted debut slot is what makes this remarkable and I hope she goes on to do good stuff.

She's living every weeabos' dreams! There's so many that claim they want to make a manga and make it big in japan, but often dont have skill set to make it big.

And at 13? I do hope we see her make a great manga series, there arnet too many female manga artists that people know about.

From what I've seen, Japanese art classes tend to be way more serious about

There's probably more men than women in anime and manga production, but it's not actually super heavily male dominated (particularly shoujo and josei, unsurprisingly).
