I just watched this documentary on LiveLeak. I guess CWC is high-functioning!

I know there are some members here who have a background in or are interested in the medical/treatment side of mental illness and autism in children. It contrasts a couple of different places and the way things are done differ greatly.

Its dated, but it made me ask how young people in this condition are dealt with today. Have things changed much? Has the internet and/or video games had an effect? Positive or negative?

That one kid about 3/4 ways of thru who has been strapped to bed for 2+ years...

Anyway, I recommend those interested in the dynamics behind the treatment, 30 years ago, of disorders will find it interesting. I did.

When CWC tard rages, I imagine him as one of the kids in this vid.

Sorry about the Liveleak issue but thanks much for the YT link.

Sad state of affairs for a lot of them, couple seemed to do ok. Be interesting to check in on them now since a lot would be pushing 50.

Serbian institutions are waaaayyyyyy worse.
I dunno if they changed since 2008 and I know America mostly abandoned the outdated institution thing, but that video just looked brutal.

Here's one from the BBC exposing care abuse in an English mental hospital (it's in parts):

I should watch this at some point but I want to have a good day today (and watching something detailing and probably trying to justify horrible abuses of disabled and mentally ill kids isn't gonna correlate to having a good day).

Also institutionalization does still happen in the US, and institutions are still awful and sometimes abusive. Generally its poor people who get shipped off to institutions, but kids and adults with shitty families who don't want to deal with them are also at risk of it.
