Money 2/27/2018 - Chris selling FAKE Pokemon Carts - Bootleg Boogaloo

Chris in his never ending Financial Saga decides to list a clearly fake copies of Pokemon Emerald and Leaf Green. Normally I'd post this in Updates, however, this is not a True and Honest eBay listing from OPL. Mods feel free to delete if you do not feel this is thread worthy @The American Hedgehog. This is Chris' supposed cartridge:

You can tell it's a fake with the low quality Nintendo logo and the placement of the battery. The entire label was printed on a 200 DPI laser jet printer.

There are plenty of guides online on how to spot fake Pokemon cartridges. See here for a very detailed example.

Some True and Honest fan bought the listing within minutes. It is unknown if they will file a fake claim or not. So I hope someone enjoys being scammed by Chris and his cheap Chinese vidya.

buying fakes by accident is really easy even for someone smart (because those scammers use pictures of the real ones then give you fakes) so Chris probably bought them thinking they were real and he was getting a great deal (why he bought 6 leafgreens though i have no clue)

Yeah this is clearly fake, the stickers used for any official gameboy game reflect light. More importantly the pokemon games has an even shiner sticker that is honestly hard to see in photos but Chris' is clearly a fake.

Most likely he bought them himself from some store, probably the one where he would go to sell used games, I forgot its name but I know it's in the cwiki somewhere.

It's one of the most common reproduction carts around, it's very possible he doesn't know. I highly doubt he is aware or is making these.

He bought it by mistake and he himself was scammed.

Outcome 2:
He's buying them from AliExpress and reselling them for a profit.

It's super easy to replicate these and sell them for cheap at swapmeets or yardsales, which is probably how Chris or his parents got the game. Knowing either of them they probably didn't know about the legit ones being almost holo so they just thought they got a good deal on the game.

I'm not going to waste my time becoming an expert in fake cartridges for an outdated children's handheld... but ask yourself what is more believable? Chris is running complicated illegal chinese copy pirating scam, but is using his real name. Or Chris once bought a fake cartridge completely unaware and is now trying to resell that he's unaware is a fake?

You usually cannot save certain things to the battery like time in the gen 3 games. Gen 1 remakes and Emerald are fine but the gen 3 fakes erase your save if you try to migrate Pokemon. However, the Gen 4 and beyond games have hardwired hardware on the cart and cannot work the same way on a bootleg cart.

I highly doubt Chris knows what AliExpress is. And even then, why only one copy of each game for like a $40 return? Shipping from China to Ruckersvillvirjinyuh takes like two months.

Chris just got scammed in a used game shop some time between 2005 and yesterday. I wonder if the buyer bought it just because it's Chris selling? Surely most people paying $25 for a loose game cartridge online know how to spot a fake.
