Chris is now asking people to outright pay for his Legos for him. He is hoping to construct his final project completed towards his PVCC CADD.

Typically I give Chris the benefit of a doubt with his money. I like to think at least a fraction of what he gets goes to serious problems in his life, or at least buys meals. There's no ambiguity here. He wants you to give him cash for his toys.

Think you have hit the nail on the head there Null
I am sure he will put some of this money towards the more important things in his life at the moment!
Hopefully he does appreciate the generosity of others to

It's funny really...we were all talking about Chris starting up a Kickstarter(or rather "CWCstarter") a few months back, and now he actually ended up starting one. Also, I don't know exactly how much it would cost to build the shopping center to scale, would it really amount to $5,000? If he was just building a 240'x680' office, I'd imagine he would need a lot more money...

OT, but is this Chris's building plan from college? I've noticed that some of the businesses like K.B. Toys have long since gone out of business.

It is over $10,000 now. I think we all know what that means.

Honestly, I wish people would just interact with him in the way he wants interaction or don't interact at all. Buy his sonictchochke or don't. Give him money for legos or don't. But it's no fun to watch him fall when he is pushed.

This has to be agaisnt kickstarter's TOS. I'm almost certain the site is for product funding only.
I don't think the project is against the TOS but the rewards might be:
"We prohibit projects that are illegal, heavily regulated, or potentially dangerous for backers, as well as rewards that the creator did not make.
..
Resale. All rewards must have been produced or designed by the project or one of its creators — no reselling things from elsewhere.
.. "

So, how does this work? Now that the goal has been achieved (by some 400%) does that mean the funding period is over and Chris has to begin work on the project? Can he continue to collect money for the remainder of the funding period? Can he access any of that cash now?

I also have to say that I find this sudden surge of generosity suspicious. Can any of these backers pull out now, before the funding period is ended, leaving Chris short of his goal? To use a Peanuts analogy: are they going to pull the football away at the last second, before Chris can kick it (resulting in rage on FB)?

I'm scratching my head over this.

The funding period isn't over. He doesn't get the money until the end of the funding period, and people have until the last minute to pull their money out. It's a bit trickier in the last 24 hours, because you have to call kickstarter up and talk to a real person and stuff.

But other than that last 24 hour thing, this isn't real money yet.

The sad thing here is that there is the potential Chris will see the money in his Kickstarter as real money, and, as a result, may feel emboldened to spend even more recklessly (thinking that there's a big payoff waiting for him in 25 days). I'm pretty sure that he never took the time to research Kickstarter in order to understand how it actually works. (And that's what his large 'backers' are counting on.)
