I was really really hoping La La Land would have legitimately been best picture. Not because I think it was the best picture, but just soo much salt would have come from it.

Oscars are usually noted for their pandering to please various powerful actors and directors in certain years, Slum Dog Millionaire, Life is Beautiful, and then you'll never hear anything from them for the rest of their lives in any American Award Shows. It's just some lip service to "uplift the oppressed" for a week, so Hollywood can suck each other off about how inclusive they are.
Weird stuff though. Some think it was a purposeful swap, some saying its an accident.

there's a ton of salt all over SJW twitter right now, because they assume whitey gains self-esteem from "white representation" in media (movies, TV, etc) the same way they gain self-esteem from "PoC/LGBTAlphabetsoup/etc" representation.

To be fair even I'm fucking salty about that. Kubo and the Two Strings got fucking robbed, as that movie was a visual masterpiece and deserved so much more than it got. I mean, even if Moana won, I could understand that, I wouldn't be happy, but I could understand it. But giving it to the social justice furfags? Absolutely disgusting.
That being said, I'm pretty sure when SUICIDE SQUAD won for Best Makeup, it set up the whole night for becoming a shitshow.
