How does Phil still have fans, let alone fanboys? It has been pretty well-established that he is a terrible gamer, a terrible YouTuber, and a terrible person, resulting with his channel being in steep decline.

@BSV could probably give you a better explanation of what attracts people to Phil than almost anyone else here, but i've always viewed it as socially inept/young people who simply admire Phil. Ignoring his monetary/social/health issues, he is a man who does nothing but play videogames all day and lives in a quarter-million dollar house with a subjectively attractive girlfriend. Then along comes the "evil detractors" who are clearly just jealous because they all have to do 9-5 jobs to make a living, and you basically get a cult mentality where people will rally to Phil in order to protect the "little guy".
Of course, because Phil is Phil, he drives away people once they grow up and realize what a complete greedy jackass he actually is, but he always seems to be able to attract someone new to replace any large ATMs that he pisses off.

I think Curse contacted him about potentially dropping him. I think the reason it happened recently is from the Google+ spam issue (#1) and the resulting strike(s) he got from unprivating all of his videos (#2). That community strike he got (plus other video reports he almost certainly got) likely put him on Curse's radar enough that due to the recent MCN rule changes (https://www.polygon.com/2018/4/23/1...n-multi-channel-network-creators-monetization) they are considering dropping him. Here's the logic:
"I did nothing wrong. I've been told it's nothing I did wrong. I can't fix it." -- He blames the unprivating issue and resultant strike on Youtube/Google, despite the fact that it WAS his fault. In his little world, though, he truly believes he did nothing wrong. The 2nd statement would follow if the MCN rep used nice language that was something like "Sorry to do this, but with the new rule changes, we might have to...". And the 3rd statement is obvious--it's the MCN's decision.
This fits with basically everything else he said about it: 1) it's not taxes, but it does affect his finances (he'd be more open to strikes, content ID claims, and so on, presumably, in addition to any effects on his CPM rate); 2) he wouldn't lose his channel as a direct result.
It's also worth noting that Curse is not currently accepting new applications to join them either, which suggests that they're worried about something. I think it's more likely that he's facing getting dropped again, which won't rattle him as much since it's happened before and thus he's not totally freaking out but is sad about it, than being informed of a potential lawsuit, which is not something he's familiar with and would, in my opinion, result in a freakout. He also wouldn't take the chance of actually talking about getting dropped for fear of saying something to actually make it happen (a la Machinima) or get a torrent of people contacting Curse with incriminating videos.

That's definitely plausible, but I thought if that were the case he'd totally be sperging about it hardcore. He'd basically have no reason to not be going insane about it.

Well one part of that I forgot about is that Twitch owns Curse. We already know that DSP has a somewhat decent relationship with Twitch, so sperging about Curse dropping him would probably cause huge issues.
Given recent major Twitch staff changes I guess its even possible Twitch is selling or shutting down Curse.

I'd lean towards this if he hadn't used the specific language of "action." "Action against me," is just too oddly specific for it to be something about curse. I'm thinking it's a lawsuit, or maybe there's already been some sort of judgment rendered against him (collections?) and he's gonna find out which way they're gonna get their pound of flabby flesh.

This is Dave we are talking about. He not only creates his own reality, but uses words in ways that suit him regardless of their meaning. We all know how he likes to latch onto new words, like Tax Attorney ( seeing as for years the guy in Conn. was his Accountant but recently became his old Tax Attorney). Viewing all of this through eh eyes of Dave's reading comprehension, an email saying they might 'take action', could easily in his mind 'action being taken against him'.
I recently saw an old vid where he talks about having saved some of his windfall. Frankly, I cannot for the life of me see how he spent ALL the money he made during his heyday based solely on the things he said he bought and things we've seen. He is also someone who by their own account lives paycheck to paycheck and has apparently been able to pay off his YEARS of unpaid State B&O taxes + penalties and interest in a lump sums of " Thousands of dollars" and his tax attorney fees of "just about as much". He doesn't 'need' money. He 'needs' to make a certain amount each month so he doesn't have to tap into that nest egg he has and keeps adding to. Someone living paycheck to paycheck does not fly their e-gf out to see them roundtrip several times in the SAME year and then move them into their house with housewarming gifts life new phone and wardrobe. People struggling to pay their bills don't go out and buy New bird feeders ( he had pics of others on his instagram before this spending spree ), bird seed AND wildlife mixes for rabbits and squirrels. People struggling don't keep getting new niche t-shirts. People living hand-to-mouth work weekends when they could get a larger audience. They especially don't take multiple days off to spend quality time with their gf if they are in any danger of actually losing their home or bouncing a check.

Generally speaking, I'd agree with you, but I think this is just a case of Phil trying to find a way to describe something and his shit grasp of the English language showing up. As Raven noted, he probably saw something like "we may have to take the action of dropping you" and turned it into the phrase he used. But I guess we'll see.

Literally any time someone in chat asked him a question requiring depth, like about his treatment, medication, doctors or anything that depression might actually involve, his answer is about as shallow as the puddle of tears he cries for bits.
YouTube recently changed the rules for companies like curse. There was an article in a&h awhile back about it, you need to have a huge following to be represented anymore.

Imagine coming from a place where you don't know phil. He will claim he did nothing wrong, and he have a really friendly community around him. Phil have a very crude sense of humor. And it's how disconnected he is from criticism that makes him what he is. He is sort of edgy and blames everything but himself. And that is regardless if he can't block in streetfighter or can't pay his bills. It's kind of funny. I thought he was ironic. Because he is just so oblivious it's to good to not be on purpose. I foolishly though.
I treated phil like he was a parody, and people had no reason to hate on him. Because I thought he was funny. Thing is he is not being funny on purpose. What you see is not a parody, it may be funny. But it's a fucking idiot, being himself. And everyone should just point and laugh. For goodness sake don't pozload my neghole. That goes for anyone no matter the motive.
His pending problem is probably his kandoh you found the damages. Since it is nothing anyone could do (Other then give him money) as usual. He would not inform about anything that isn't something you could pay for. And that is the only excuse playing the victim shit i could think of.
