Double post, you know that you can edit your post to add a quote and respond to that, right?

Anyway, my opinions on the subpoena are that the scope should be quite limited, and hopefully Kiwi Farms won't get hit with another, broader one.

Look out guys, the person who has been here a whole (((5 months))) is going to teach us about site features. Thank god. Please tell me more. Tell me about your migration from Pol to here as well. The whole internet is dying to know.

This has nothing to do with what you posted per se and more for a laugh for those that recognize one of KF's spergiest spergs, that got banned from here, is on that site. :story:

Of COURSE he fucking is.
God I hate that unfunny little sperg.
I find his existence insulting. Someone that autistically involved in internet communities should at least have the basic human decency to either have a sense of humour or post things that can easily be made fun of. The little shite instead insists on being almost clinically humourless and plays everything with a near straight bat. He's so fucking B O R I N G that the mere idea of investing any significant time into trolling or investigating the little knowitall is nauseating.

This is an ignorant question but is it really much of an issue for the site's general userbase if everyone's info got leaked? What is the worst case scenario here? I only ever log in to browse La Zorra and post in off-topic threads. Yeah, my email is fake and I would be kind of embarrassed to have this account linked to my real name, but I'm not dedicated enough to get VPN.

Is there some kind of greater threat that I'm not seeing?

It could create problems for people living in countries where certain types of speech are banned or severely restricted.

Not really. Just a few months ago the site was hacked and every active user had his IP and email address leaked. This narrow subpoena is insignificant by comparison. Josh tries his best to keep things secure, but it's ultimately the user's responsibility.

Frankly, CloudFlare is a much bigger liability since all traffic is completely transparent from their point of view. If you were an intelligence agency and you asked me for a solution to the HTTPS Question, CloudFlare would be it. They intercept and MITM something close to 40% of the western Web, with the FAGs (Facebook, Amazon, Google) making up most of the rest. Almost every vaguely controversial site you can think of is behind CloudFlare. It's a spook's dream.

What's sinister is that the principal reason for CloudFlare's growth and ubiquity, defense against DDoS attacks, was partly one of their own creation. You see, historically, DDoS-for-hire websites would attack one another, which limited their growth. However, once CloudFlare started providing protection to these DDoS services, they flourished, making the problem much worse. In essence, they were a protection racket by proxy, spreading the disease and selling the cure.

P.S.
Matthew Prince, CEO of CloudFlare, previously founded Project Honey Pot. In 2008, the Department of Homeland Security bought some data from Project Honey Pot. Less than a year later, Matthew Prince left Project Honey Pot and started CloudFlare. In his own words, it was this event that "turned into the initial impetus for CloudFlare."

So a mass shooting in New Zealand with some 40-50 deaths, you get a email, which you strongly rebuke, some media reports, and that's it.
However, you get this one fucking sped who drops ammo everywhere, gun keeps misfiring, and never gets his actual targets, and they want a Grand Jury.
What are the odds.
I think it might be a case of, "This site refused to honor the request the first time" so theyre using the next controversy to drop a bigger threat.

People said Krautchan. Alas, Krautchan is no more, it's Kohlchan now. Also surprisingly, no, the Manifesto of that tard wasn't posted there, at least not by him and at least I didn't see it. (and yes, I was checking around the time while all this all went down - all I saw there was pictures taken from the guy by bystanders in hiding) This (of course) didn't stop the usual suspects from the mass media to all claim that the guy posted there regularly and also posted the Manifesto. Of course on an anonymous board, you'll have people cheering on mass murderers (non-seriously and quite seriously) without that saying anything about the boards culture. I feel I don't need to explain that to the crowd here. Kohlchan posted the following statement about the shooting:

We investigated the matter and concluded that the shooter did not use Kohlchan to spread his Twitch stream or his manifesto. The press releases of e.g. The Guardian, Sueddeutsche, ... contradict our findings and do not correspond to the truth.

Update:
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ryanhatesthis/halle-germany-shooter-meguca-anime-manifesto

So either the "independent journalists" from Reuters, Deutsche Presse Agentur, The Guardian, Sueddeutsche, LeMonde, ... are exceptionally bad at their profession or they deliberately lied.

Kohlchan also went into hiding to take away the hard work of pressing "PrtSc" from these "journalists" to capture a few choice shitposts out of context and make clear that Kohlchan is a board for mass murder enthusiasts after all. (Just like it happened with kiwifarms - if they didn't do that, I'd assume the screenshots would've been from there, not from here - kiwi farms was just the next best thing IMO)

Null might consider this in the future too. Go into hiding, only make the board available to Tor etc. when shit like this goes down, basically giving the blue checkmark mobs and the mass outrage industry not any fodder to begin with until the storm is over. Yeah I know it sucks and yeah, that's not what free speech is about but the world is like it is and sometimes it's more helpful to think practical.

EDIT: Also people should use Tor, fake email etc.. to be here. That's a given. Always consider every data held on kiwifarms not to be safe.

Or just only registered accounts. Or put in an obnoxious background with gore or "learn to code" or other things that cause journalists to start crying and have to check in to a mental institution for being triggered.

depends on your place of residence

if you're in america you don't really have to worry
if you're in europe or a commonwealth state however, you should be concerned, because various countries there have various sets of censorship and hate speech laws.

talking shit about the jews can get you imprisoned in pretty much all of europe. ranting about paki grooming gangs can get you arrested in britain. saying mean things about fags or trannies can get you a visit from the police in switzerland.

the details vary based on where exactly you are. in some places you can say pretty much whatever, but in other places something really simple like "i hate merkel i wish she would die" could actually get you in trouble with the law for 'inciting political violence' or shit like that.

The only thing I can't do is deny the holocaust's happening. But even that would require the goverment officials to speak English and care about this site, which they don't.

Now if I were to say something bad about football stadions in hungarian here, I would be in trouble!

Just to add to this list, if you're a potato nigger you're fine, there's speech restrictions for media and publications but not individuals.
