No, that's the point. John's not on the team. John gets to act like he's an amazing player, that he can't play cause it's a team and Team Axe Wound is better off with John passing on his wisdom and training five players, than John being the best player in the team. John gets to act like his pro gamer girl fantasy and steal the glory of five players with out ever touching a keyboard. In my head cannon, Wu starts off calling himself coach, but never shows up or does anything if there isn't a press camera rolling. The team forces the issue to get a coach and Wu declares he "is more needed in brand and management positions" but still takes all the credit for any success the team has as if he was on five mice at once.

Yes, i still don't get why Frank keep John with him, there is absolute no benefits in having him nearby, he is a black hole of money that doesn't produce anything of value, you could not even say "it is for the money" because John has been kicked out of his family and he doesn't have a penny on his name, is the biggest mystery in the Wu-verse

Frank likes to be the controller in the relationship, he kept the ex-wife locked down. but then she started having individual ideas and thoughts and also wanted to write scifi as well. She was an actual threat as a result, and he lied about her being the abusive one so the clique would freeze her out.

John on the other hand is easy to control. He might have ideas, but he knows he needs Franks money to make it happen and won't rock that boat, I think Frank knows deep down that John will never be a threat to him or get serious enough with any of these projects. Frank enjoys that because he knows eventually John will ask him to pitch in or take over anyway so he'll always be "needed" and in control of what his partners up to.
