Yeah, it's possible he has one or more IVs, but those are usually peripheral in the arms/hands. What I don't see is a cardiac monitor (no leads attached to his chest), which after being under anesthesia for an 8-12 hour procedure he'd definitely be on. Being under that long can be quite dangerous so he would be closely monitored.
