Weren't the medallions $30? Isn't he making like, $2 profit off each amiibo, if that? So if you buy this item that will give him a two dollar profit, he'll throw in a $30 item that you actually wanted to buy for free?

Well you have two choices here. You give your money to a fatass who will spend it on fast food, toys and stuff he doesn't need...or you could give it to Chris.
I think it was more than $2. Apparently he got some Amiibo stuff on the cheap. But it wasn't a lot.
My "Chris may not be as dumb as we are portraying him" take is that he has already bought and paid for some Amiibo materials and may have already made them. At this point, the production cost of the Amiibos is a sunk cost, and he is just trying to get the most he can for them. If he gets an additional $20 on top of the medallion price for adding an Amiibo, that is better than nothing.
