That's kind of worrying to be honest. Up to now we've all assumed that the RCMP are either Dudley Do-right naive anachronisms or too corrupt or oppressed by PC dogma to be able to do anything.
However what if there's a team of elite cybercops surfing through his social media data in a basement somewhere, CSI style, carefully building a case and all the media exposure Yaniv has got is messing with their case?

I actually think it's probably OK. More media attention puts pressure on the RCMP to do something. And if Yaniv goes on a scooter rampage, flailing at pedestrians with his cane that just ups the pressure.

Those whom the Farms wish to destroy, they first make butt mad.
If they have any intention to charge him, you can be certain that just because of the PC dogma and Yaniv's litigious nature that they will do what they can to get it right. You can guarantee that the majority of cops would love to get a hold of him, they may just have their hands tied.

Another thing that people don't seem to understand is that any confession or anything incriminating that Yaniv admits to will be an uphill battle to use in a criminal case because he's a damn liar. His words have been shown over and over to have zero credibility. Any "evidence" that police can't verify, is basically tainted, particularly because of the general sentiment of the public.

If you are not from Canada (or Australia) you may not have heard of this before, but there is a type of investigation the RCMP are known for developing known as the "Mr. Big" technique (in Australia cops also call it the "Canadian Method"). It is blatant entrapment, so it is illegal in the U.S. and most sensible other countries, but if you take a look into this it will give you an idea of the nature of investigations the RCMP are fully willing to embark in. They only do this for cold murder cases for the most part, so I am not suggesting this is what's happening. I am just giving a picture of the RCMP's style and technique.

In a Mr Big Sting, the RCMP will spend millions of dollars and months or years cultivating a relationship with the suspected criminal (by outright giving them money, gifts protection) and convince them that they are involved in something just slightly shady (passing bad cheques or something) and meticulously lead them into a psychological game where they eventually believe that they are involved in organized crime.

All the while, the RCMP are documenting everything via wiretaps and surveillance. They slowly ratchet up the tension by using the media to leak to the public that the police are now looking into the situation with new eyes. Once the accused is starting to lose it, the original investigator (his "friend") will somehow arrange a chance meeting with the "boss" (or Mr. Big) with the suggestion that he has some connection that can make it go away.

The investigators will fully saturate a hotel room with surveillance equipment, and lure the suspected murderer into the meeting, where they give the guy a few beers and then start laying it on thick that he is going to get a life sentence if he doesn't accept "help" from "the Boss" and the boss is not willing to make it go away unless he tells every detail of the murder.

You can guess the rest of the story, cops burst in from every direction and next thing ya know the dudes sitting in prison because juries are dumb and believe there is absolutely no way that they themselves would make a false confession for any reason.

I just gave a brief and maybe not totally accurate overview of the Mr. Big sting. I have attached a thesis by Johnathon Cross from University of Sask. that goes into detail on the techniques and implications for anyone that is interested.

If the RCMP were doing a Mr Big Sting, having fucking idiots pose as Yaniv's 'agent' could conceivably mess it up.

Oh yeah, I agree, without a question. That's what I was getting at if I wasn't exactly succinct about it. I was just fleshing it out a bit for anyone unfamiliar.

If there actually was an ongoing investigation (and it's not too far fetched to think there may be) getting directly involved rather than just documenting (and poking the bear a little) as is done here, will almost certainly throw a wrench in the works.
