There is so much amazing Cretaceous material sequestered in Myanmar. As political instability resolves and the country opens up to scientific collection and study, it's going to be phenomenal.
Apparently all that stuff is coming to an end. I still can't believe they found this specimen in a market to be sold for jewelry making supplies. I can't wait to see what they find next!

Well, it's only smart to work with established players in the supply chain, rather than bypassing or undercutting them! With a good relationship established, local vendors are more likely to voluntarily bring specimens of potential scientific importance to researchers for first refusal, and less material is lost to the incredibly shady private collectors market. Myanmar's Cretaceous heritage ought to be done by right - laying the groundwork for this pipeline is so important!

This brought so much joy to my broken autism filled heart.

I remember being so into dinosaurs as a kid, and the idea they may have been birds or have feathers was just coming in on the scientific level. I knew about it. This was before Jurassic Park, or dinos being cool. My best friend at the time and I would do nothing but research and talk dinos. We felt so cutting edge knowing this and digging through all our books to see the backwards hipped dino's and then my mom told me birds of prey are called raptors.... and we knew of Dromaeosauridae (grand dad to Utah Raptor or what JP called a Velociraptor). As a wee one it all clicked and I knew it was a fact.

This being true means the ostrich very well may be the closest if not a real thing to a dino we have alive today.

I won't lie, hearing T-rex was pretty much a big ole turkey vulture and not the boss who fucked everything up was really depressing. Logically it makes sense like say a bear. But, the idea of this huge walking tank of fuck your shit up, really sticks to kids minds as the coolest shit ever.

So salty I'm having french fries for breakfast. It's cool scientist are able to make these finds and piece together the complex history of dinosaur to bird evolution.
It's a pity they can't identify the defective gene that causes creationists to exist.
