A Quiet Place part 2 - also discussion about the general mythos being created

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.

I thought it was a fun follow up to an interesting Suspense film. The overall 'world' gets expanded on and we get to see a bit of how this whole 'apocalypse' started. Personally I enjoyed the monsters being called 'Death Angels' and basically just using the mechanic of the "Clicker" from the Last of Us...which is probably the most notable monster in the series.

The biggest problem I have with the series so far is they don't exactly use the knowledge they gained. 'If we play a high frequency feedback it paralyzes the creature's senses and exposes it's head as a weakpoint'. Ok....Sweet. Seems like a decently easy way to cull this thing right?

So why the fuck don't they immediately tell the island of survivors the minute they land on the island after surviving the Bum attack? It shows the deaf girl briefly showing the little black boy whos like half her age how to use this SUPER USEFUL trick to help stop the plague of death now right as they realize one of them have gotten onto the Island.

I liked the ending though. It feels more Sci-Fi than horror with a fair amount of suspense baked in. Kind of hoping they let Krasinski continue to play a role because the plot holds together better than most BS hollywood puts out these days. I watched it via a decent quality Cam but I definitely wouldn't have been upset seeing it in theaters and paying money.

After the completely retarded first movie I can't really find grounds to complain about the sequel being retarded. It's a movie about magic monsters that react to sound, but only human sounds, somehow. It's stupid, just pretend you vote D and turn off your brain.

Wasn't the original movie completely moronic? Don't make a film where a basic fact of life (sound) is incorporated into how an instant death occurs. I thought people would have learned this after Signs. Hell the only movie I can think of that did a decent job at it recently was Don't Breathe which worked because the core gimmick wasn't tied to a monster, it was tied to a person.

How would you rate it, number-wise? I liked the first one and plan on seeing the sequel soon.

I guess some fleshing out is required but i think the idea is the sound lets them 'see' because there are scenes in the second where falling water masks the human movement.

Solid 7. I personally thought it was better than the first and while some parts felt kind of forced the overall story coming together felt nice.

For the sound thing, I assumed the aliens were smart enough to learn to distinguish what’s a “human prey” sound and what’s not. Maybe it work like bat echolocation and they get a vague notion of the shape. Can’t say, I haven’t seen either film, but they seem solid at the very least.

Horror films aren't my thing. I tried watching the first one, and I fell asleep. I woke up in time for the last 20 minutes or so. My question is, why does a film like this need a sequel, aside from $$$ and a lack of creativity?

In a related story, here's Amy Schumer giving a backhanded compliment like the cunt she is.

Because as we all know, Amy Schumer has never done anything for publicity.
