I've searched around a bit and haven't found many mentions here of Accursed Farms, which is a shame because it's awesome and I'd like to see if anyone else is into it. The site belongs to Ross Scott, the creator of such webseries as Freeman's Mind and Civil Protection, both of which are Half-Life themed machinima shows that are very entertaining.

In addition to that and various unrelated machinima projects, the dude also reviews games that are obscure, off-beat, weird, or otherwise interesting and those videos are pretty great too. So yeah, if there are any other fans here, there's a thread now, and if you're interested in checking out his work I'd recommend starting with Freeman's Mind or Ross's Game Dungeon, but he's got a lot of other content besides that too.

I'm a fan of Ross and his videos and I'm always excited to see his vids drop onto my dash on youtube.

He's still supposedly slugging away at his film idea because filming in Source was an endless pain in the ass.

I used to watch a lot of Ross Scott around the time Freeman's Mind ended, but now I've got too much other shit to do to watch him. Not sure how much I'm into his film idea, but if anyone could pull it off, it'd be him.

Freeman's Mind was a phenomenal series imo, it made me very curious to see what other gaming heroes thought of along the journey too. It was a great series and provided great entertainment. I'm a real sucker for stories told in new perspectives.

Ross's Gaming Dungeon is one I watch less, mostly because I'm not terribly interested in most of the games he talks about but I do watch it now and again. It's a nice review show.

No comment on Civil Protection, haven't watched it yet unfortunately.

Since it's related content, does anyone know any other good 'Mind' series? I can specifically quote the other two, Shephard's Mind and Barney's Mind, and I also found the 'Mind of Freeman' version interesting in how it tries to be its own thing, but I haven't found others that interested me yet.

For April Fools, Ross uploded a new episode of Freeman's Mind, kicking off the Half-Life 2 story. No idea if the series is actually continuing, but the episode itself is real:

^ He's stated in the past that he wants to do freemans mind 2 after he finishes his movie, but I'm guessing that he's sick of having no money, so he's gone ahead with FM2.

Edit: I'd kill for a system shock game dungeon

This is mean. This is probably the meanest April Fools he's ever done.

I love Ross though. I've legit followed him all the way from the first time Civil Protection was released, the Friday episode. He has a really good grasp on writing and characterization, and just about every episode of Civil Protection (my two favorite being On a Rail and The Tunnel) is an instant classic example of great machinima for me. Freeman's Mind coming back is cool nonetheless, I like that he went with the angle that Gordon infact doesn't remember Barney at all and the only person he trusts is Kleiner. He characterizes Gordon as a sociopath which is a welcome retreat from literally every other _____'s Mind.

On his latest video chat, Ross said that he will be making new Freeman's Mind 2 episodes on a monthly basis. Apparently the April Fool's episode was intended as a kind of metajoke (he was planning to restart Freeman's Mind all along, but wanted fuck with people), but the fan reception was so enormous that he is going to make Freeman's Mind his first priority, neck and neck with Game Dungeon and putting his movie on the backburner. Also apparently Ross made that can trickshot on the third try, which is pretty neat.

That said, I much preferred Civil Protection to Freeman's Mind. Civil Protection is much more memorable and less formulaic.

So how many years do you think it will take him to finish hl2+ep1+ep2?

I'd say at least a decade
He openly admitted that the one episode per month schedule is a best case scenario and that there will be some months when he will probably not have time to make an episode due to having to make a Game Dungeon episode instead.

It's not exactly the same, but if you want some goofy Half Life SFM stuff with a story, there's always Gorgeous Freeman.

I quite like his style of doing things- I think his Well of Souls review is probably my favourite because you can feel the torment.

Ross really seems like he will be sticking to his schedule for making Freeman's Mind 2 a regular series

Good stuff, it looks like the series is off to a good start so far. I'm looking forward to when he finally reaches Ravenholm, which will sadly take 2 years

On average, how long is a Half Life 2 playthrough? Haven't played it since the Orange Box... holy shit, that was eight years ago..., but I feel like he's going pretty fast.

So, ten to fifteen minutes per episode means four to six episodes per hour of gameplay. That means between fifty two and seventy eight episodes if he follows the average time to beat. One episode per month means... between five and seven years to do it unless he redoes what he did for Half Life 1 and steamrolls through the end.
