Ace Combat 7 -

I just beat AC7. The game is definitely a step up in terms of difficulty compared to previous Ace Combat games.

Checkpoints are sparse, the gun reticle has a much lower margin of error, tanks/ships are no longer a one-hit kill, escort missions require much more effective target management, the planes don't turn as tight, and the clouds/weather can throw your missile lock/flightpath off.

This would be the perfect game for DSP to play.

So steam reviewers are already sperging out about lack of HOTAS (what is that?) support. I'm at mission 2, playing with a controller just like the PS2 games and having fun. Do people really play Ace Combat as an in-depth flight sim?

The game doesn't have native joystick support. I think it would be fun and a little more immersive to play with one, and people are pissed because a good joystick is expensive, and there isn't a lot of selection of games on the market where using a joystick is practical.

I wish I hadn't preloaded the game, it would have been faster to install it once it released.

To flood the game with negative reviews because it doesn't support your niche product is a bit petty, no? Then again, this is steam reviewers we're talking about.

Evidently, lack of flight stick support is a bug. One that keeps me from buying right now.

Meh im waiting for the torrent to appear, i saw people bitching in the Steam reviews about how the game only works with only one flight stick because they need that sweet immersion

The people bitching are simfags who think Ace Combat is suppose to be a semi-realistic flight game. The reality is that AC feels awkward with a stick and is a novelty, the game is meant to be played with a pad. PC mustard race likes to whine and cry, I'm sure if sticks got patched they'd move on to review bombing over denuvo.

The game is great.

tl;dr: Ace Combat is best played with a controller. If you want true immersion go back to DCS.

Also: Bandog is the best AWACs ever along with Skyeye.

This game is a good proper sequel to the series and the soundtrack is as epic sounding and dramatic as the rest of them. I remember playing the shit out of 4 and 5 in my teens and this just brings me back to those times; just pure fun with a zany story but with more challenge than before. I wish the industry were leaning more to how Ace Combat games are; these games are a testimate to the past of video games.

My only gripe is that we chew through wingmen like toilet paper. I'd like a more consistent crew but instead we hop from one to another so quickly it's hard to get acquainted with them, though Count is a good enough long-term wingman. I loved seeing him going from being so gung-ho and a practical rival in the squadron to basically admitting in Faceless Soldier that you were the best pilot of the group when he called for everyone to group up with you instead of himself.

Also, the end portion of that mission really put me off Bandog. He was cool before that point but what he did to Full Band earns him the "Dick of the Game" award. Fuck you Bandog, I liked Full Band.

It feels like a Tomino Gundam series with everyone dying but replace mobile suits with fighter jets. I really like this game a lot but I'm trying not to become too influenced during the honey moon period. Time will tell if this game compares to the others in the series..I regularly replay the trilogy every year along with 2. Working on X again while trying to get my psp emulator to work properly.

Is it just me or is this game hard vs the older games? I blazed through the ps2 trilogy getting S ranks on ace with 4th generation planes (no super shit) but now I'm getting whipped on normal. 80% of my play time is this:

"MISSLE! MISSLE! MISSLE! MISSLE!! MISSLE!"

"TRIGGER, THE ENEMY HAS A LOCK ON YOU"

"MISSLE! MISSLE!" *releases chaff*

*BEEP BEEP BEEP"

I'm on the defensive so much now and even in an Su-33 I feel vulnerable. S rank requirements is really strict too. Its all good but damn I feel like such a scrub.

It definitely is more challenging- as if they took Dead Sea from 6 and decided that was a good baseline for mission difficulty. I can't go a single mission in the later game, after leaving 444, without taking high-G turns every 10 or so seconds but there's nothing more satisfying than dodging missile spam and then knocking out the planes that tried to take you down.

Been doing small chunks at a time. Just got past the mission to destroy the oil fields. I did notice the timer seems really short, and it really rushed me off to the annoying truck hunt segment. I'd compare this to the mission in Ac4 where you take out the oil supplies for the fleet, it had separate areas and felt alive with plenty of enemy jets.

Even mission 6 felt like it was supposed to be like Tango Line, but once again the short timer makes it feel rushed.

I'm not a fan of the drones, I liked previous games with lots of enemy jets and listening to the radio chatter. I'm hoping for a Shattered Skies or Round Table-like mission in the future. Also please let there be a large naval engagement mission, Invincible Fleet is probably my favorite AC mission.

I've done every single tunnel run sans AC3 (working on it) and this was the first one that gave me a stomach ache. I've never been much for amusement parks and the ride straight up felt like that and something about the space elevator triggers my irl fear of heights and vertigo.

Game was a lot of fun, looking forward to unlocking and 100%ing it. My MVP jet was the Su-34 because SFFS are really good in this game and it worked very well against air threats too. My other go to planes were the F-15J, Mig-31 (mainly for the bomber missions) and Su-47. I unlocked the Su-57 by mission 18.

Criticism is that the story could have been better and drones can suck a dick.

Seven nukes were not enough

That fucking elevator run in Mission 20 made me delete the fucking game. It's so fucking awful. I've had more that 30 mission failures on that part.

Fuck that shit. I feel like DSP because YT videos make it look so easy, and yet I simply can't do that fucking move without bouncing off the fucking walls like a pinball ball. Not a single other game has ever made me as mad as AC7. Fuck that 40 GB piece of garbage.

Is worse than the last mission of 4 and 5?
