Ray finally said something... sorta.

The reasons for Ray leaving were obvious. He disliked playing the same games constantly. You could hear him dying inside a little every time a technical fault forced them to restart, and I think even very early on he made it clear Minecraft isn't really his thing.
What forced his hand though was when Roosterteeth stopped him from streaming because they weren't getting their cut. The company still wasn't getting what that whole streaming thing was about, and didn't like that one of their employees had a side thing.
Ray probably looked at the numbers and realized he was getting more out of streaming than playing minecraft for an entire week, and decided to get out.

I can confirm this is all true. I have no physical proof, sadly, but I talked about this situation at length very early in the thread and this is all correct. The seizing of his channel was due to him refusing to give RT a cut of his profits from Twitch - I don't know if they wanted a cut due to the name, or if they had some kind of non-compete clause and were trying to "compromise" by wanting a share of the income, but in either case Ray wouldn't budge so they seized the account completely.

That's why he ended up becoming the most spiteful man in the world. Twitch was his best shot at independence from RT and they snatched it right out from under him, and due to this happening around the time of the Fullscreen acquisition I'm fairly certain that was a huge part of why RT handled the situation the way they did. I think Ray realized by that point that most fans would follow him if he did leave, though, so he started keeping his head down and saving up as much as he could so he could afford to go solo and coast on his savings until the real money started coming in - which is exactly what happened!

I bet the founders are kicking themselves constantly for letting him get away now that he's extremely successful and their company is going far down the drain. Sad.

Caleb Denecour, former community manager for RT. He left to pursue a career as a professional ultimate frisbee player (yes, really). If you ever hear them make a joke about "screen looking" in older let's plays, they're making fun of him, as he was often caught peeking at other people's screens and in one let's play stole something out of Gavin's chest without saying anything, which became a big no-no for them after the fact and Caleb was actually banned from any of the actual competition videos due to it. I think he still appeared in a few non-competitive videos after, but very few.

He wasn't a bad dude actually, but he definitely played the part of the butt monkey a lot and was not really an "official" member of AH; they considered him part of the "B Team," along with Lindsay and Kdin. Ryan got more notice much more quickly than Caleb did after several years of working at RT - they were both hired in mid-2011, but Ryan was escalated to a central cast member very quickly, while Caleb stayed mostly behind the scenes and what few pieces of content he was in generally involved him being either inconsequential at best or an active nuisance at worst. When he and Jack won one Minecraft let's play (I think it was The Walls, it was a team game), Gavin referred to them as "Team Boring," for context.

He absolutely knows what he did was wrong, which is why he was still messaging those girls even while the bulk of the evidence was still coming out, and why he's still trying to get sympathy and manipulate any loyal followers he has left. He's not ignorant, he's stupid and desperate.

It almost certainly was nonconsensual; every picture of Adam from his wife's Instagram was removed a few months back, which is definitely not a move someone who's going to forgive and forget would pull. I don't know exactly how far it went - it could have been that she consented to some or all of the pictures being taken, but not being distributed, or it could've been that she didn't consent at all and Adam did all of that behind her back. Based on her response I think it's the former, but that's still quite horrible and I really hope she gets some recompense if and when she proceeds with the divorce. In either case, though, they live in California which has very solid revenge porn laws that this situation would fall under. If Jess pressed charges, Adam would almost certainly go to jail due to the scale of the distribution.

I honestly think it's a mix of both. I think that, if he heard the same story done by anyone else, he would think it was wrong - but because HE did it, it's suddenly "not so bad" and something that one can recover from, thus why he started pushing the onus on the girls to keep their mouths shut instead of realizing that he was the one at fault. That's true, I wasn't really considering the full scope of what he did from her perspective. I'd just rather have actual confirmation of his full story. Either way though it's much easier to forgive what he did since he didn't manipulate and rape minors, and considering he has done the smart thing and stayed silent instead of trying to elicit sympathy, he's more respectable. Who knows what he and his wife are going through, for all we know she has forgiven him.
I dunno about saying someone doesn't deserve to be forgiven though (not that anyone but his wife has anything to do with the situation). The implication of that is he is unable to admit wrongdoing and improve himself and never do it again. It's like saying a criminal deserves life imprisonment, as if that actually does anything productive. Adam could admit everything and try to start clean, and depending on if anything else came out after the fact, I wouldn't judge him for it, I'd see him as the same person before this happened.
I must admit though, Adam really got lucky with Ryan being outed. He was really fucked until it got revealed that Ryan is a sex pest, at which point the spotlight shifted. If that hadn't happened the backlash against Adam would definitely be worse.

At the outset, Adam's story was much more revolting (in both a moral and pornographic sense). I think Ryan would have really come out looking better if he didn't strike out:


Strike one: Cheating on your wife/sexting behind her back. At this point, he could have gotten away with an apology/sabbatical, as in my view that's between him and his wife. This is Geoff-level failure. Humiliating but survivable.

Strike two: He fucked with fans and used company resources (cons, hotel rooms, his twitch profits) to use it. At this point he'd be fired and there'd be a debate on if he could ever fuck a fan and have it be moral. Though I have my doubts because Geoff fucked an admittedly much older fan and copped to it with no consequences (So what's this level of failure called... "Geoff+"?). But then again, Geoff said it was weird and resolved to no longer date anyone who was aware of his online presence, so impossible for Ryan. Still, at this point, he'd probably look a little better than Adam, if by just a bit.

Strike three: Fucking the underaged/inexperienced/mentally-compromised. While it's technically legal to be an old dude with young-but-legal women, the minute you combine that with strikes one and two - and then knowingly fuck a 17-year-old - you're done. Oh yeah, and BONUS STRIKE FOUR: Do weird daddy shit and be terrible at sex, too. My hot take: if Ryan were single and did this (not counting minors) I can totally see RT hanging onto him, especially if it didn't blow up in public. There might even be a cringeworthy Animated Adventure made alluding to it (a la "Dan Likes Cross-eyed Girls"). Thinking about this makes me realize that a lot of RT probably was (and still is) very scummy - they just never got caught.
