"The plot of the series will reportedly follow Wednesday Addams dealing with the world in 2020."
Warning received.
Thats the plot of every fanfiction and spinoff. Timmy's high point creatively was Big Fish and financially it was that Alice film ever since hes been less and less popular.

Honestly if he was smart he would either do another Pee Wee or something similar to Big Fish, that felt like a natural move beyond the teen angst/Hot Topic look of his films.

He hasnt really been able to do anything new with his style since Sweeny Todd

STOP REBOOTING THINGS.

Buy more LSD and coke and make something new for fucks sake.
Hollywood isn't creatively bankrupt for a lack of drugs, everyone in LA is high as balls just about 24/7. The real issue is their nonstop pandering to the 5% of the US population that cares about being woke when they aren't busy sucking off China.

There was already a series about an adult Wednesday that was actually pretty good, but it got cancelled because the creator got copyrighted over it. You can still find it on YouTube.
Fuck copyright! It's like companies never heard of fair use or parody. It's not even taking cues from the books. Why are they so butthurt when fans do a way better version of these old works than Hollyfail!

Sounds like it'd have a predictable style, but honestly Burton's style seems like it'd fit pretty well. Bigger issue I feel like is you have the Smallville writers who, based on Wikipedia, abandoned that series after seven seasons. Show felt a bit lame from what I'd seen, but it was popular for whatever reason.

Given how Smallville felt like it was riddled with teenager drama rather than a lot of superpowered fighting, I can't help imagine this series would probably end up with similar issues given they're focusing on Wednesday.

More I think about it the more hopeful I am about this due to Burton being involved. With the Munsters attempted reboot things were derailed due to conflict between Bryan Singer and Bryan Fuller, but it still looked pretty cool and felt like it had a style of its own even while reminiscent of the original. The writers they're bringing on also had worked on Heroes, which thinking back on it seemed to focus too much on the teenager girl character whose name I can't remember. It's probably a safe zone for them to focus on the teenage characters given their past work (so I'm assuming they'll age up the characters to where Wednesday is a teenager if just to make it easier to keep the show going a while without having to deal with the kids growing up).

When I think back on the original Addams' Family movies they didn't feel a ton like the original TV show, but it was still its own style that was enjoyable. Though I was thinking of of what movies he's done over the past decade like Big Eyes and Miss Peregrine's, and it feels like if he can keep to a more normal style like the prior this could go at least decent.

So I don't know, I'm having a more open mind now. And also suggesting people watch Big Eyes (which is based on a real story).

They rebooted The Munsters again a few years back. A very strange take on the series with Jerry O'Connell as Herman. And Marilyn was taken in because her mother tried to eat her. I actually kind of liked it in a weird way. But The Munsters it was not. Didn't last past a delayed pilot that was turned into a TV film. Said film had pretty much zero chance of being picked up. It was called Mockingbird Lane. Eddie Izzard played Grandpa. The series was supposed to be a bit on the dark side. Honestly, I would have liked to see at least one season just to see where it would have went.

someone else remembers mockingbird lane besides me, unbelievable.

with that in mind, a reboot could work, but they gonna inject so much retarded political commentary and current year post-ironic "humor" that will feel like aged milk from the first minute. mockingbird lane was smart in that regard that it completely skipped most of it (helped that it was before [current year]) and was carried a lot by eddie izzard.

also trying to replace raul julia is borderline sacrilege, I can't even imagine who they gonna pick. if they got any clue they silently drop the character and focus on the kids with some callbacks... most likely not gonna happen tho.
and since burton has lost a lot of his former appeal, I highly doubt any sanitized for tv shit will be good and end up being just another alice in wonderland.

yeah I respect the guy who was Gomez in the old tv and was whatever Grampa they cast him as in the later tv, but Raul _really_ fucking nailed it, and it's impressive to nail a spoopy role better than Tim Curry did

I'm legitimately curious about it given that Burton's style is unique and quirky, even if it is diet goth. I have no real emotional attachment to AF, but at the same time if it is about some stupid fucking woke shit or mentions COVID in any way, I'm just ignoring it.

I honestly would rather have Burton do something original than his whacky zany take on Addams Family. Honestly, the only person I can see even being a half decent Gomez is Rami Malek and that's about the only person I can envision in a remake/reboot. I'm just sick of the industry further sticking daggers into the corpses of beloved franchises. First they gender flip Ghostbusters, then they turn She-Ra into a she-troon, Star Wars and Star Trek both have gone full retard... Where does it stop?
