and the last time we see the addams depicted as happy healthy but strange family.
a billion years ago I went through that book by that one guy who was on Nick at Night a bunch as the TV Psychologist and he put up a pretty good argument about how the Addams-es were much better adjusted compared to the Munsters for how the former accepted their differences from the rest of society and rejoiced in them but the Munsters kept want to be themselves and also in the normal world and felt ashamed for them.

I have zero faith left in Tim Burton. Dark Shadows 2012 was supposed to be his great ode to a childhood favorite, and it had a Disney Star Wars level of failure.

I guess in 5 years he'll have dug up The Munsters and raped them, too. Maybe he can do a Hot Topic Bewitched movie.

You just know, at some point we will get Wednesday (blue hair and undercut) go "But the worst and most evil thing in the world..." she'll look straight into the camera and finish: "...is racism and bigottry!" Then she will lift up her hand to reveal BLM and gay-pride wristbands.

This begs the question... Aren't modern day commies/SJWS already weirder than the Addams Family?

They could make the Addams family clean cut blonde Trump supporters and the gags from the 60s show would work.

Like, a gay black door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesperson would show up, and Gomez would warmly invite him in. Then he'd notice that there's a painting of Jesus on the wall, the TV is playing Fox News, and Pugsley is wearing a Blue Lives Matter pin, and he'd scream and run out of the door, leaving the vacuum cleaner behind. Gomez scratches his head and wonders why he was in such a hurry. Cue laugh track.

Why would that make you hopeful?

Tim Burton is sort of like John K. in that he seems to have this compulsion to put his own one-dimensional stamp on franchises he grew up with.

His one dimensional stamp kinda fits the Addams Family and he's stuck in the past to the point where he'd try having the show be faithful to the spirit of the original show, while at the same time they have writers that appear to be competent at writing schlock like Shangai Noon, Heroes, and Smallville. Because of that I'm guessing the show won't delve much into preachy SJW shit since the writers don't have a pattern of doing that and you have Tim that's seeming interested enough in reviving the show that he's into directing episodes himself (so I'm doubtful he'd want to inject that modern bullshit himself).

So they will be brown skinned?

I actually thought the recent animated film was pretty good and I liked how they looked like the original cartoon depictions. Seeing Wednesday's pigtails shaped as nooses in the film was shocking to me in this day in time where garage door pulls can bring an entire sports industry to its knees.

Two words for you: Dark Shadows.

My dad was a fan of the show back in the day and he seemed to think the movie was a great homage to the original series. So I'm conflicted on that. The movie was mediocre, but it didn't feel like it was because of the directing or aesthetics which Burton typically controls when he's involved.

At this point, I think it's worth having an open mind because Burton will be repeating a show's style that he's good at and you have writers involved that are used to doing schlock that kinda fits this show, if not in the original series' styles then at least in its spirit.

Well, let's put it this way: the original show wasn't a comedy at all - it was serious at all times. It's really a perfect case study of the deficiencies of Burton's mindset.
The show did have a certain element of camp to it, in that it was low-budget (sometimes comically so); the actors varied in quality; everything was paced for the format of a daily soap opera; and they were presenting wild supernatural stories in earnest. But it's still a good show that you can enjoy unironically on its own merits.
With Burton you just get the camp and the farce without anything underlying it, it's just an extended riff on "Hey, that thing I saw as a kid was a bit goofy, lol".

I think his Addams Family is going to be the same way, the "comedy" is going to be about how ridiculous the whole thing is to us, the savvy modern-day audience, rather than letting the characters and their gimmicks bounce off a world full of normal people.

Burton already did something like this in movie form with Dark Shadows and that was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen.
If he'll make this, I at least hope that the sets will be practical and not CGI like in his later movies.

Meh maybe it's because I didn't know Jack all about the 70ßms tv show so I didn't have the bias but dark shadows is kinda a guilty pleasure for me, you say to yourself a Tim Burton vampire movie and you gotta ask why didn't he make one sooner?

Oh also I love how ever since those "minorities don't work in my vision." Comments the bloated socjoc tards have been calling for morticia addams to be played by a jungle bunny.

I don't know how this can work in the modern day. Theoretically if anyone can do it, Burton can, but as many people have pointed out, Dark Shadows was a dud when it seemed like that would be a no brainer for someone like Burton.

You can't do what you need to in order to make this work. You'd have to check particular boxes. And the contrast worked in the Addams Family because society was really straight laced and proper. A lot of things are acceptable these days so there isn't really a good way to do a fish out of water unless the Addams would be a 1950's stereotype, which they aren't.

When Wednesday Addams is the focus and she's been aged up, alarm bells start ringing when it comes to the writers.

Usually these things happen because they want to put a self-insert boyfriend in to fuck her vicariously. The Addams Family Values sub-plot was the only time it will ever be done right.

Tim Burton's involvement also makes me nervous, he's not been good with kids films since Corpse Bride, and even then that was mediocre. His more mature stuff (Big Fish and Big Eyes) have been brill though.

I guess it'll be Oscar Isaac again for Gomez (though I do like the Rami Malek suggestion I saw) and Eva Green for Morticia.

Tim Burton is over-rated shit.
The dude had a hell of an amazing run for a while there, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns and Ed Wood are all great movies, but then I guess he kind of said all he really needed to say and quickly became self parody.

For me the end of classic era Burton is Mars Attacks, which is a mixed bag and I can forgive some people for not liking it, though for me personally I've always really liked that movie, but that was the last time I felt like he still had a certain "spark" to his movies and it's been mediocre to flat out bad ever since.
