Off-Topic ADF and ideology -

Like bondage gear, ADF sees ideology as a fashion statement which he can put on or take off in order to make himself appear more edgy. (This is reinforced by his own statements on his OKCupid profile.) Over the years, ADF has gone from a generally mainstream, left-of-center viewpoint, to being a communist, Nazi, anarchist, and all manner of other, sometime conflicting, beliefs.

That's all that can really be said on the matter of ADF's political views. Being the lazy sped that he is, his only interest in any given ideology is purely superficial.

If he really gave a shit about Maoism, which he doesn't, he would know that homosexuality was illegal in China until 1997. He would also know that deviancy in thought is anathema to Maoism's anti-revisionist tendencies. If ADF actually lived in China, the MSS would gulag him for having erratic views such as his. I imagine he'd also be obstinate to doing factory work so he might get gulaged for that too.

I think it's ironic that even if Phil actually got involved in politics no one would vote for him 'cause he's such a waffler (in addition to several more reasons). Sticking to one insane political view is way more noble than drifting from one trendy party/race/ethnicity to the next.

Australatina would be a crazy place to live with their political identity changing drastically all the time. They wouldn't be able to keep alliances abroad, there'd be riots at home...

Honestly, one of the reasons I think far left ideology is a hard sell to people is that learning the ideas is hard work. Reading some of these thinkers really makes your head hurt after a while (especially some of Mao).

If Phil tried to sit down and really get into deep left-wing political theory, reading all the big names (Marx, Engels, Lenin, Mao, Bakunin, Adorno, Luxemburg, et al.), he'd pick out a single doctrine from each of them and try to syncretize them into some sort of anarcho-autist ideology because le edge.
