I looked a bit into the mother's livejournal that @melty posted.
In the last few posts, the mother, Tina, attempts to get a hold of someone she calls "MHW"

This person, is a friend on the fathers livejournal.¨MHW" stands for "Muddle-headed Wombat".
Though they do not appear to straight up present themselves as a furry they do appear to be bisexual, and have own rules for 'care and feeding me". MHW was also from coventry. From the looks of it MHW never contacted her.

I don't understand how elbow can be an interest, I think torchwood was a game? Though Cherub is the only thing that I can't really tie to anything, but cherubs are generally represented in art as innocent children......which in the context of the Challenors makes me a little uneasy.

Oh boy, munchies are my wheelhouse! Bear in mind I'm not a medical professional, I just write about this over on the Munchausen-by-Internet thread a lot.

The wording of the medical post is significant, I think - "aspects of" not "diagnosed with". It sounds like she was trying to get him diagnosed with various things, the doctors said he had some of the symptoms of them but did not meet the criteria for diagnosis. Given that earlier posts in this thread show she uses a wheelchair she doesn't need and previously pretended one of her children was blind for years, I'm going to go with the munchausen-by-proxy angle here.

Fibromyalgia is a dumpster fire diagnosis. It's basically "widespread pain, cause unknown." I'm pretty sure most doctors believe it's not a physical disease but a malfunction of the brain's pain processing pathways. In other words, they have some fucky brain chemistry that amplifies the normal aches and pains we all have or makes sensations like cold or touch very painful, which then makes them less inclined to do any sort of physical activity because they're in pain and tired, which makes the pain and fatigue worse because they become deconditioned and focused on the pain all the time. It's way way more common in people who have psychiatric problems like major depression, anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorder. The treatment is basically exercise, therapy, antidepressants, lose weight, and sometimes a medication for nerve pain. "Neuro" is a modifier sometimes used to make the dumpster fire diseases sound serious because too many people use them as an excuse to do nothing with their lives and people know this. (Not to say everyone with fibro is just faking, i know plenty of people who get the diagnosis, are relieved its nothing that's going to kill them, and put in the work to improve their symptoms, but you won't hear about those people because they don't constantly whine about muh fibro.)

From what I understand the UK's benefits scheme is pretty generous to families of disabled children which incentivizes some people to try to get their children diagnosed with anything in order to qualify and there's no real way to prove someone doesn't have autism. In the US, there's also the incentive that they can get extra accommodations at school, like more time on exams and a reduced amount of homework, but I don't know how that works in the UK.

Epilepsy is the only one on that list that could be definitively tested for if an EEG caught a seizure. However it's very common for munchies and munchie-by-proxy moms to claim seizures that do not show up on an EEG. Standard line is they have a rare form that is "too deep" in the brain to be seen. They tend to actually get diagnosed with PNES, psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, which is exactly what it sounds like. Not exactly faking it, as they do have seizure-like attacks which are involuntary, but they're prompted by psychological stress and will not appear on EEGs as the brain's electrical activity is not altered by them. Some of them are, of course, just faking and the attacks are not involuntary. The fact that she doesn't specify which type he supposedly has aspects of, just that it's rare, leads me to believe she was told his EEG was clear but it didn't rule out the possibility he was having some kind of seizures.

Yes, in the UK people do get some pretty generous benefits and carer's allowance if their kid is disabled. The amount is dependent of the severity of the disability. This provides an incentive to overstate the severity of the disability or not acknowledge any improvement. I think the dad was listed as the mum's carer too. When you get families in this situation the money will be rolling in.

I would say that Aimee's behaviour must have been quite bad. In the UK, we used to have plenty of schools for disabled kids. Some specialised in kids with severe medical complaints whereas others were for kids whose problems were more behavioural. Due to cutbacks, many of these schools closed and a load of PITA autists and ADHD types were chucked into mainstream schools. Getting extra time in exams is a piece of piss, but to get extra help such as a learning support assistant or access to one of the few special schools left is pretty tough. The kid would need to get a 'statement' where they have to be assessed and the school has to apply for extra funding and what have you. It is not well funded so non-distruptive kids who struggle but get on with it slip through the cracks.

Our friend Aimee ended up at a special needs school and probably got driven to and from school by a free taxi service. These schools cost a fortune with very small class sizes (between 6 and 12 kids). Given some of the lunatics I've seen who have been allowed to stay in mainstream schools, it must mean Aimee was fairly unmanageable. Mind you. it probably helped having parents who knew the system inside out.

Can the bots still be used, by the owner (nekosune?), to access information they wouldn't have access to if it was kicked off?

Maybe they were right in the olden days when they warned kids against "self-abuse". It was often connected to religious concepts, but maybe it was a hold-over from knowledge that was older than religion itself. Seriously, when my father was a kid in 1950s Catholic school, he was taught that it was better to "spill your seed in the belly of a whore" than to jerk off.

Okay, so maybe too much jerking off doesn't make one go blind, but maybe in excess it makes people pasty/ugly/androgynous/fat or generally makes boys develop abnormally.

I've noticed this for a while... even in kids who seem only slightly quirky, but have batshit parents/grandparents/guardians. There definitely are parents of children looking to slap labels on totally normal children, and providers generally cringe when confronted with parents like this.

I've met at least a dozen people outside that office who collected disability payments for autistic kids, and only one of those people had a child who was definitely non-functioning. The adults cash the disability checks of the children, of course.

Tons of shenanigans ensue if the family is multi-generational living in one home. Knew one girl who desperately wanted to move out of her parents house with her mildly autistic son. Grandparents were the types to cling to that disability check for dear life, expected their daughter to fund them trips to Disney, claiming the kid on their taxes, using the food stamps for the kid for themselves, etc. I think they took her paycheck as well, if I'm not mistaken. She worked full time night shift. They limited their daughter contacting the child's father as much as possible-- so in essence you could tell they were also obstructing any kind of relationship between their daughter and the grandkid's father. They were devoutly religious Jehovah's Witnesses, made this adult daughter take one night off every week to go to "meeting", which made her supervisors annoyed with her. Without getting too into it, knew enough to know she wasn't making this shit up, and aside from the pregnancy in her early teens, she was a responsible person.

This wasn't the only family in which I got clear vibes that the child was purposely designated as "disabled" just to get a check, and autism seems to be the go-to if the kid appears otherwise healthy. Same set up-- pregnant teenaged girl, overbearing parents, kid was diagnosed very young and check was cashed by grandparents (who didn't want the daughter to leave with her child under any circumstance).

There ARE literally families out there who actually WANT this kind of lifestyle. They go out of their way to make sure their daughters learn early that it's their job to take care of mom/dad/siblings, and that their success is defined by whether they can snag a boyfriend. Daughters, of course, desperately seek relationships outside the family, looking for the love they don't receive at home. Mom and dad refuse to take daughters to GYN to get them on birth control. Daughter gets pregnant. They insist the daughter must have the child and must not put it up for adoption. They obstruct their daughter from leaving the home with the child (including breaking up relationships), then they seek out every form of welfare they can possibly get their hands on-- they definitely try to get the kid a "disabled" diagnosis more often than not-- and it's not just one group of people who are like this. Diagnosing the grandchildren/children as "disabled" is just one part of the whole scheme.

Meanwhile, a profoundly deaf child I knew couldn't get disability, as somehow deafness is not considered "disabled enough"?
