When I was a student in the same town we lived in a similar house, the sound proofing was so poor that you could heard the water flow through the pipesThese types of homes are often very old, and in somewhat shoddy shape. They are popular rentals by landlords who want an easy buck without having to refurbish for that much.
These homes were built, normally in the late 1800's early 1900's . Normally it was to accommodate growing populations during the industrial revolution and growth of factories and mines. When it comes to isolation and soundproofing, there was no such thing back then.
So as someone put it earlier in this thread "You can hear a gnat fart in the other room."
So he lived at home, but somehow knew nothing. But, gone for periods of time from the home. Or in care?
