As to Kimmel...Andrew Kimmel is a producer/director that worked TV and Buzzfeed Video. He currently works for some company called AuraNexus that does...something? I couldn't figure it out from their site. He is literally never referenced in the text of the complaint. Nothing he did is mentioned at all. I have literally no idea why he's even included in the lawsuit, and apparently according to his Twitter, neither does he. I think it goes without saying that this will probably not go anywhere as it stands.

The complaint does reference Mark Follman, who is the National Affairs editor of Mother Jones magazine, but apparently he isn't named as a defendant? I dunno; I think Alex Jones might have himself a LOLyer here.

Impossible to tell at this time. This version will likely get hit for jurisdiction, but then Jones just has to file in the proper one. Texas is more lenient on this kinda stuff and it'd be cheaper and easier for Jones, hence filing it in Texas first. Makes sense to try it there first, on the offchance it goes through.

I'll believe it when I see it on filings. If that is the case, then this is going to be really, really boring. Maybe except the deposition, where we can expect the lawyer to go all "outrage and disgust" for having to interact with Jones and we might get to see Cenk sweat grease from being asked questions.

I don't think Jones dropped the lawsuit out of the kindness of his heart. In all likelihood, if Jones dropped the lawsuit, it was because of the high probability of dismissal (probably for jurisdiction). So he was probably not in a position to demand anything.

Because he's right there and it's convenient and cheap to do so. Lots of plaintiffs try that. If they prevail on jurisdiction, it's a good deal for them.

It's dropped without prejudice. If Jones wants to, he can refile it at any time, and Wu knows that. Shutting the fuck up about Jones is likely part of her lawyer's advice to their client, or at least it should be.

Like, it's not like they need any sort of formal agreement for everyone to get what they want and have the lawsuit dropped. Jones drops it without prejudice and picks it up again if Wu keeps sperging out. Wu gets out of the lawsuit cheaply and doesn't have to apologize. And Alex gets the correction out there in a public way, even if Wu doesn't actually apologize.

Jones doesn't need anything out of Wu. If she keeps defaming him he can bring back the suit easily. The lawsuit's publicity is as good as anything for correcting the reputational harm born from the initial statements.

As others have said, it was easy to do so and got publicity about this out there. Truth be told, he doesn't really need to prevail in this lawsuit to "clear his name". Numerous other individuals, websites and publications have already clarified what actually happened. Just filing the suit is enough to get the word out that he wasn't the one responsible for the child porn, since nobody involved has disputed that fact thus far (and most likely won't).

Frankly, given the questionable nature of the complaint, I'm not sure if Jones ever really intended to get this to a jury in the first place. He was probably just fishing for a retraction while simultaneously portraying the defendants as liars (which, by proxy, makes him look better).
