I thought it'd be best to include a glossary/quick reference guide to a variety of alien terms and concepts, to help people who might not be very acquainted with the community to understand what the fuck people might be talking about.

The Close Encounter Scale: You’ve almost certainly heard of this, simply from the famous movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The concept was pioneered by Dr. Josef Allen Hynek, a nuclear physicist involved in the early government investigations into UFO’s. Hynek created a scale with various levels as a quick way to classify events. The first three of his scale are usually ignored now, but basically are “lights in the sky” to “unknown radar contact.” Close encounters are a bit more specific, and usually involve seeing the UFO in detail, evidence of an encounter, or seeing aliens.

Close Encounter of the First Kind: Basically, you’re within 500 meters of a UFO, and are able to accurately describe what it looks like, how it moves, and other details.

Close Encounter of the Second Kind: Physical effects of a UFO encounter. This includes stuff like vehicles or electronic equipment malfunctioning, the panicking of animals, scorch marks on the ground and other physical evidence, discomfort or heat or paralysis felt by the witness, or chemical traces left behind.

Close Encounter of the Third Kind: Holy shit you saw an alien! This is actually seeing a being in relation to the UFO, either inside of it or outside of it. Another nerd created a subscale for this which I won’t go into.

Now, this is all scientific and shit, which is why it’s gotten completely fucked with over time by people with more out there theories and stories. There’s more that are called Close Encounters, even though Hynek’s scale did not include them.

Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind: There’s two variants of this. The most commonly used one at the moment is getting abducted. This technically fits in the third kind description, but people like being special. There’s also another which was proposed by a colleague of Hynek and all around interesting theorist, Jacques Vallee. Vallee’s proposed Fourth Kind is when in relation to a UFO sighting or interaction, witnesses experience a transformation of their sense of reality. This means a close encounter of the fourth kind using Vallee’s definition is stuff like seeing a bigfoot and a UFO, going on some strange psychedelic trip, the rules of reality shifting around in your perception, and other just odd fucking shit happening.

Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind: Stephan Greer’s contribution to the scale, it also just falls under the third kind in a sub niche but he insists on it being a full category. It’s making peaceful, intentional communication and negotiation with an alien intelligence.

Close Encounter of the Sixth Kind: This is the kind you don’t want to be a part of, this is when a UFO or alien kills a person or animal and the body is left behind. Technically falls into the Second Kind.

Close Encounter of the Seventh Kind: Fucking aliens. No really, this is creation of human alien hybrids. Again, it’s just a part of the Third Kind.

The Greys: Probably the most common type of alien encountered, they’re the classic ayy lmao. Big heads, big eyes (often black), smallish bodies, sometimes encountered clothed and sometimes completely nude. There’s some subcategories of them (tall greys, short greys, zeta reteculans) but in general they’re the dudes who do the probing.

The Reptilians: Lizardmen. A favorite of many a conspiracy theorist, they also have differing types. Dracos are just reptilians with wings. Sometimes they wear clothes and sometimes they don’t. Lizard features can vary, but usually they have scales. Often reported as hostile and not fond of humans.

The Nordics: OK, just imagine the most stereotypical Norwegian/Danish/Swedish/Icelandic person possible, blonde, blue eyed, pale skinned, tall. That’s the Nordics. Kind of the hippy aliens, a big part of abductions and alien culture early on, have sort of faded away over time. Often would come here to spread a message of love and peace and also to fuck people.

Mantisoids/Mantis Men/Insectoids: Think giant alien preying mantises. Rarely directly threatening, often just sort of seen directing around greys or other species. Intelligent, like to watch people fuck. A podcast I follow termed them ‘Mantis Cucks’ and I think the name is appropriate. They’re really just sort of there watching in the corner while other aliens interact with people, though they’ll talk with them too. Sometimes puppet other aliens or human clone bodies to get busy or do certain things

Men in Black: These guys come in a few types. The first is government agents, essentially just FBI/CIA/NSA/USAF/[INSERT GROUP HERE] guys in suits that flash identification and tell people to scram away from alien sites or shut up about aliens. The second is the strange alien in a human skin suit, they talk in weird strange ways and otherwise don’t act completely human while asking questions about UFO’s or harassing witnesses. The third is the Indrid Cold kind, which are aliens that seem to hide being aliens a lot better, are very polite, and curious about various things regarding earth and what time it currently is, just really strange. All of them have an interest in UFO activity though.

Secret Space Program: A concept that’s gained traction since 2012, this is essentially what it says on the tin. Either the US government or a bunch of earth governments have a secret, clandestine space program they keep secret for us, usually for military purposes. There’s several factions of belief about this, some crazier some less crazy. Sometimes also called Solar Warden.

Disclosure: An open ended concept championed by many of the grifters in the UFO community. The basics is that the powers that be have all the solutions to everything given to us by aliens or reverse engineered by aliens, such as infinite power generation, the cure to all diseases, anti-gravity technology and much much more, and are hiding it from us. These guys claim to have evidence of this and that it’s inevitable that the government will come clean about all the stuff to do with UFO’s and these technologies sometime in the near future, either all at once or in a drip feed.

I’ll add to this as needed or requested. If you have a write up for anything just message it to me and I’ll put it in cited to you.

God, think about how close our universe was to Zak Bagans standing back-to-back with John Edmonds wielding his thousand fold Katana and slicing through hordes of greys. In some other parallel universe, he was our protector :semperfidelis:

Tangential, but there was a documentary I watched a while ago that I remember being pretty interesting (though it's been the better part of a decade now) called Mirage Men (2013) that essentially postulates that UFO conspiracies were furthered by the US government as it helped muddy the waters of actual Air Force technology from the Russians. I kind of want to re-watch it now.

That's based on the real life story of a ufo researcher who was driven to the nuthouse by the NSA, check out the book Project Beta by Greg Bishop

Steven M. Greer, he's a big wheel in the scam known as the disclosure movement.

Steven Greer

Sadly not related to the Russel Greer of Kiwi Farms fame (at least as far as I know), Stephan Greer is a long running prominent figure in the UFO research and alien scene. Born in 1955, he claims to have seen a UFO when he was 8, and had an interest in the subject from a young age. Graduating with a Doctorate in Medicine from the ‘prestigious’ East Tennessee State University in 1982, he’d go into physician work for the next eight years before founding CSETI in 1990. It sounds like it’s affiliated with the SETI (Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) program, but it isn’t. SETI is mostly run by research universities and works closely with NASA and other scientific organizations to methodically try and detect the radio emissions of potential alien intelligences many light years away, and occasionally (very occasionally) send very simple and as difficult to misinterpret messages to star clusters likely to have intelligent alien life - messages that won’t arrive for hundreds or thousands of years. CSETI is not affiliated, and it’s pretty obvious why.

CSETI stands for ‘Center for Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence, and is essentially a group of UFO nerds trying to come up with first contact protocols and communication standards with aliens, and also to contact them independent of any government authorities. They also do shit like collect data on potential alien contacts (so UFO sightings and reported abductions) and speculate on a bunch of shit. CSETI’s old website now redirects to the Sirius Disclosure site, Greer’s new project.

Greer would ramp up his alien involvement in 1993, founding the Disclosure Project, being one of the first to really push the idea that the government has super alien tech they’re hiding from us. He’d make some Larry King appearances, ramping up his involvement in the UFO world before resigning as an emergency room physician in 1998, going full time into the Disclosure Project. From here on out, he’s fully in the UFO world, and boy oh boy, is he infamously deceptive. He’s accused of plagiarizing other work , claims to have briefed the CIA on aliens (something denied by the CIA director of the time outside of politely listening to the crazy man at a dinner party), and any time he’s called out on contradictory evidence or his claims don’t occur, quickly screams about being covered up by the powers that be. He started a scam company claiming to have zero point energy, and offer awards to people who’d disclose it. This was never taken up on. He also charged 800 dollars to view… a moth he claimed was an alien being. He's also claimed to have been able to vector UFO's into an area using secret technology so they can be observed, and charged various UFO groups for this 'service'.

1620148628677.png

He’s still active in the UFO community, releasing documentaries on disclosure, and still scamming people. He was also one of the principle pushers of the Disclosure 2001 conference which happened in Washington DC in 2001 at a relatively famous hotel, a pretty much one of a kind event that brought together a bunch of crazy people in the UFO world together. I still need to dig a bit more into this event as it's a real cow crossover, but suffice to say there's still a lot more out there on this man and on plenty of the other cows in this community. The milk flows if you're willing to put in the effort to find it.

i unironically want to attend one of his meditation groups.

I wholeheartedly support this thread and kinda want to see one on the Bigfoot/sasquatch community (which I am sure has at least some overlap).

i'd be super into that thread. there is a bigfoot research center a couple miles from my house that i've been wanting to visit for years now.

There is some overlap between the Bigfoot and Ayylmao community, but it’s limited to the fringes. There’s of course theories that Bigfoot is an Ayylmao, but those aren’t very popular and are more in the Vallee camp of theorists., where whatever the alien phenomena is it’s wrapped up with ghosts and cryptids. The Bigfoot community is also full of lovable and not so lovable weirdos, so I’m sure there’s interest in a thread for them if you make it.

Otherwise, I’ll get a write up on Strieber going sooner or later. I probably should get one going on Ancient Aliens as well, because what would this thread be without ancient aliens?

Stephany Fay Cohen

Now here's a fun one. She's more of a schizoid really but she also claims to regularly have sex with aliens. She's a real wacko. and has popped up in the UK tabloids a couple of times. Her social media isn't super active. Her twitter has some fun claims though. She claims to be the reincarnation of Joan of Arc among other important historical figures. Her predictions are uh, not super accurate. The aliens tell her various predictions about British Soccer/Football, she claims there's a UFO resupply depot near her home in Bromley (which I think is in south London), and well... she has lots of alien sex. She went onto UK TV to talk about her weird alien sex too. There's a cat man, a grey, a reptilian, and an octopus man she gets freaky with on the regular.

The aliens also grant her psychic powers of course, which she fails to demonstrate on the regular. She claims the aliens are all around us and they only appear as guides to people who want to see them and only to the individual they are the spirit guide of.

She's also doing spirit drawings on her YouTube channel... or at least I think this is her channel, as it's her name, looks somewhat like her, and has woo woo bullshit involved with it.

Yes, this is almost certainly the case with the origin of the operation that (probably inadvertently) generated the
Dulce Human-Alien Base mythology.

Air Force OSI, which has responsibility for both criminal investigations and counter-intelligence ops for the AF, were contacted by a HAM operator (and I believe private pilot) Paul Bennewitz who believed he had intercepted communications from aliens (they were probably early data comms or frequency-hopping radio traffic from Kirtland AFB) in New Mexico.

During the height of the Cold War there were obviously a lot of deliberate disinformation campaigns. Alien technology being obtained by the US military was a fun CI scenario to spread and then deny (see: Roswell).

For whatever reason Bennewitz was used as an outlet for one of these ops and spawned the Dulce underground base human-alien battle story.

Bennewitz seems to have had paranoid schizophrenia and this obviously didn't help. Predictably he told anyone who would listen about this stuff and since he had gotten at least some of the information from AFOSI they were able to put in some plausible details.

Pathological liar UFOlogy grifters like Philip Schneider attached themselves to the story and added their own little details. (Schneider claimed to have been an engineer in the facility. He an-heroed in a probable autoerotic asphyxiation, as all super-advanced alien technology engineers tend to do).

Spoiler: I visited Dulce and Archuleta Mesa and hiked all up in the places that the dumb-dumbs from UFO Hunters went. All that is there is a perfectly ordinary cell tower site and some microwave antennas located in an obviously geographically advantageous spot on top of the mountain (microwave antennas require line-of-sight to each other to communicate).

I did run into a bear, though.

When I was younger, I had an interest in UFO lore. It's funny to me then, that in the age of cell phone cameras everywhere, there is far less activity in the UFO fandom (as such) than there was. Activity mostly peaked in the 1970s, and has been pretty dead since the 1990s (NICAP went inactive in 1980). The fact that we haven't had an explosion of UFO sightings in the age of the smart phone is what (mostly) disproved the UFO phenomenon to me, though I will never outright state there definitely isn't life in the universe outside of Earth.

In a way it's sad because if this had been a Usenet thread posted circa 1992 I would have a ton more content for it. There are some other threads where the lolcow ratio was mostly gone before KF was founded, and this one of them. Most of what's left are a group of far less interesting (and less intelligent) new agers.

Not especially, UFOs are in a constant cycle of fringe, into vogue then back into fringe. Just because the MSM is taking them semi-seriously this week doesn't mean they won't return to calling UFOlogists freaks and weirdo's again next week regardless of military statements or sightings.

No.

The navy UFO’s are just UFO’s. Unidentified flying objects, possibly spy balloons and drones with radar reflectors to make the radar displays think they’re moving way faster than they should be to gather ELINT.

The people in this thread often think that the US government is in active contact with aliens or that they’ve had actual encounters with flesh and blood aliens, and no evidence supporting such claims. That’s a big difference.

His secret technology is hiring an airplane to drop flares. He got caught doing this somewhere on the east coast of FL since someone looked up flight paths.

The whole premise of CE5 would make for a hilarious horror movie though. A bunch of people wander into the wilderness and try to telepathically contact aliens. What could go wrong? (it's anal probes)
