Since there's been talk about Buck lately, I decided to dig a bit into why he doesn't do Beatdown videos anymore. I found this. It's somewhat old, but I doubt anything has changed.
In short, he wants to move on from them and focus more on essay videos. I guess he'll just have to take the hits to his subscriber and view counts on the chin.

So he wants to be like Lindsay Ellis and RLM and do intellectual film analysis instead of just bashing bad shit. I could say he lacks charisma, but it seems that once again, a former CA producer is trying to torch their CA past.

Don't bash his subscribers, Mathew's lack of success is his own fault. His audience told him back in the day that they found Projector boring, but he still did it anyway.

It would be one thing if Projector was successful, but it isn't. He has been complaining about the views of Projector for years now. Guru Larry even told him to make more Bad Movie Beatdowns when Mathew's old videos were doing better than his new ones.

If you don't make what your audience wants, they move on. If he wants to move on to video essays, then okay at least that's a smart change considering his Mulan video did well. The issue is nothing changed and he just kept pumping out Projector videos and getting annoyed nobody cared about them.

I visited the subreddit to see what they had to say on it. There's barely any mention of this guy. Damnatio memoriae. Probably has more to do with Matthew siding with Lupa.

Yeah, I saw discussion about him on there and also the Spoony Experiment subreddit. It makes sense, who else is going to talk about except fans of TGWTG/CA? Nobody else is going to care about Mathew Buck in 2021 as the views for his videos clearly show.

Buck’s Twitter feed is a pretty funny cycle of posting his latest video, admonishing his audience for its low view count a few day later, finding a critical comment and screenshotting it for sympathy, then the fun really starts where you see his bitterness and impotent rage really spill out as he starts bashing other YouTube creators, the film industry, Doug (basically anyone who’s achieved greater success than him) before the final phase of the cycle where he has a tiny glimmer of self-realisation and makes a grandiose post about how negative he’s been and that he’s going to do better (always peppered with humble brags about how good of a content creator he is now) and then he shits out another video that’s lucky to get 1k views and it begins again.
My favourite phase is the bitter one where he really shows his true colours and seemingly no one is safe from his seething malice about gaming algorithms, unless of course they are in any way related to Lupa and he backs the fuck off because he knows that’s a hornet nest just waiting to sting him to death if he kicks it.
What a fucking shitshow of a person. I’m glad Lupa’s thread has focussed on him for a couple pages because it’s where he belongs, not in his own space - but forever just the footnote of another bitter being he mistakenly clung to and is now reaping those cunty little seeds.
