Allison Road, the new Silent Hills? -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.

This news is actually a month late, but since I haven't seen anyone discussing it, I figured I'd make a thread.

A spiritual successor to the highly anticipated P.T./Silent Hills by the name of Allison Road is currently in production by an indie group. They made a video of some prototype gameplay, and the release date is set for next year as a Windows-exclusive. It's also about to get a Kickstarter.

Since the game is still in its pre-Alpha stage, there are some very obvious criticisms which be seen in the gameplay, but as a whole it has many people excited and hopeful.

Heard about this on PCGamer a couple weeks back and I'm totally psyched, even if I never followed Silent Hills closely. The way you interact with items in the world looks really neat.

It doesn't seem to build up tension as well as SH PT did. The game looks as visually stunning as PT, but if it can't back that up in the horror area then I don't think I can support it.
One of my favorite things about the SH demo was how slowly tension was built up. Sure, you were walking through the same environment over and over, but you were never quite sure what was going to change each time you went through. And I loved the sound for the demo. Silence with that eerie creaking noise. The devs chose to give the MC in Allison Road a voice for their demo which I'm not sure was a good idea. I tend to think that having silent protagonists during in horror games increases both tension and immersion, at least during gameplay.

Amnesia and penumbra had the same(if not better) level of interaction.
