I wanted to see that out of curiosity (I have a thing for watching shitty/obscure animated films), but it has a fandom?
Out of curiosity, I typed in "Sheep and Wolves" on deviantart, and immediately found disappointment (in other words, I found unironic fan art).
The Russian studio certainly didn't see that one coming (or they did and just didn't want to tell anyone).
Just like "One Stormy Night" (Arashi no Yoru Ni), which is a shame as I did enjoy that film.

I’m still losing it a little bit over the sheer reuse of the one female wolf’s face in literally EVERY bit of promotional material.
What, can’t have the female lead not looking demure and sexy? She’s a fucking wolf, and reusing the face pose makes them look lazier than they already do.
Like, idk about you guys, but if I were doing something like sliding down a river on a log for fun, I probably wouldn’t be looking back at my boyfriend with a sideways glance with bedroom eyes.

I enjoyed One Stormy Night. Granted, last I saw it was years ago, but I remember the animation being really impressive for the time.
I'm really surprised it's not more popular with the furry folk, as it's got the perfect recipe for a cancerous fandom-- wolves, talking animals, Japanese, gay undertones....
True. I sorta wonder if Kaiketsu Zorori took away most of it's thunder like that. That was a series with over a hundred episodes and a number of animated movies that far outweigh what One Stormy Night could do for almost 2 hours. The Zorori fanart was just too much!

At the time the show came out, I remember saying to someone I thought this was up 4KIDS' alley since it looked dumb enough to come over here but it didn't. I suppose we ought to be glad it didn't anyway though it was pretty easy for something like this to take off stateside with the right marketing.

Very true. They'd have a ton of material to work with too. Zorori (for now) seems to be a fairly obscure fandom. Looking on Tumblr, it seems most of the art is done by young children or fetish artists.
(Also, don't check the Tumblr tag unless you want to see the poor guy getting dicked down by another character. That shit is like on the second page.)

EDIT: This did get into a lot of countries though.
There was even a movie that came out last year (apparently a fourth one), so obvious someone still cares for this, even if the fandom has died down quite a lot.

In a sense I envy the people that can take so much joy out of a franchise like this, like baleen whales sifting through seas of garbage straining dopamine from swill and pollutants. These people probably don't think about much. They know what they want and they go for it. Simplistic happiness can be found anywhere if enough of your frontal lobe is numbed, if your goals and desires are small and passionately fulfilled by talking wolf cartoons.

Not to powerlevel, but I can completely understand this. I'm an animation sperg who gets an unusual amount of joy from a couple of shitty cartoons. I guess the difference between me and them is that I know what I like is garbage. It's just a distraction.
I get your drift, one animation sperg to another. I would kill a man for James Baxter, and the hours I've spent binging B rate cartoons would probably be questionable at best.
I guess what I'm trying to describe is that there is a very different energy with the wolfaboo community, a whole new level of devotion I can only understand from behind caution tape. It's less of a hobby and more like a religious devotion, they're getting something out of it my worldly mind can't grasp as it is.

The final movie came out in 2016 or 2017, so it’s still a thing.
I hope that will be the last film as well, it's got like half the number Land Before Time has in sequels.
