At this point, just expect 4 years of continuous trials of Trump for various bullshit. They want to distract everyone from whatever Biden and Harris are doing or failing to do. Plus the media ratings will tank without a perpetual cycle of ORANGE MAN BAD so they will try to keep it going.

The Arlington thing is particularly stupid because only 2 Presidents are buried there--Kennedy who was a martyr and war vet, and Taft, who was President and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Every other President since Hoover is buried at their Presidential Library, Museum, or historic home, Everyone knows Trump will just build a massive fuck off Library at Mar-A-Lago or someplace else in Florida so it's performative masturbation by the House.
Isn't the Arlington thing a smaller part of a proposal that would prevent any government property or memorial from being name after Trump? It seems like there wouldn't be a Trump presidential library anymore if that were the case.

Was just talking with my brother, who was watching the news. He said Joe went straight up the steps of Air Force One when departing, not stopping at the top to wave goodbye, as Presidents normally do. My brother also said there was a man at his elbow all the way up the stairs - my guess, to catch Joe if he fell. Believe it was all Joe could do mentally just to get up the stairs.

If Harris was smart, she would have our backchannel guys and gals at the UN quietly inform Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, and P'yongyang's backchannel people that the US nuclear arsenal is in fully-capable hands, that Biden won't be able to "push the button" on them for no reason.
The thing with the codes is that they are just authorization codes. It doesnt launch the nukes. It just tells the guys in South Dakota that the president actually said launch instead of a voice on the phone.

Its just one piece if the puzzle in launching nukes it directly involved dozens of commanders and even a few peons to sanity check a 2am “launch everything” order from an ill president.

I'd like to say I'm amazed at how myopic they are for bringing that bill, given how republicans would immediately use it against them the next time they take they house, since they can just push through 2 quick impeachments of any and all democratic executive officials (of course the democrats are also probably crazy enough to think there's no chance of republicans taking over the house ever again, which yes they'll also try to use government powers to prevent).

I'd also like to say I'm amazed at how brazenly they seek to violate the constitution with it.

But I'm not amazed by either of those things. It's basically the status quo from them at this point (not that republicans are that much better).

It's really ridiculous since it's not likely Trump dies in any time frame where it would even be a thing, and in the extremely likely event Republicans win back Congress, possibly as early as the midterms the way things are going, they'll just change it back. As it is, though, it's just a House Resolution, which does absolutely nothing, isn't binding law, and just expresses the opinion of the House itself. Considering how petty they've been about this you can bet the first thing a Republican Congress is going to do is start naming shit after Trump just to piss them off.

Isn't it unconstitutional to name things after a living person, or is that only with regards to putting a living person on the currency?

There's nothing in the Constitution about it. It's just the law.

(E)Prohibition on certain representations.—
No head and shoulders portrait or bust of any person, living or dead, and no portrait of a living person may be included in the design of any quarter dollar under this subsection.
(quarters)

And the "In God We Trust" you see some places is also the law, and for some coins this has a 2-year period after their death they have to wait.

(E)Limitation in series to deceased presidents.—
No coin issued under this subsection may bear the image of a living former or current President, or of any deceased former President during the 2-year period following the date of the death of that President.
(F)Inscription of “in god we trust”.—
The design on the obverse or the reverse shall bear the inscription “In God We Trust”.
(commemorative dollar coins for Presidents)

Also look at this nonsense:

(D)Standards.—
Because it is important that the Nation’s coinage and currency bear dignified designs of which the citizens of the United States can be proud, the Secretary shall not select any frivolous or inappropriate design for any quarter dollar minted under this subsection.
(E)Prohibition on certain representations.—
No head and shoulders portrait or bust of any person, living or dead, and no portrait of a living person may be included in the design of any quarter dollar under this subsection.
(this subsection is about commemorative quarters for D.C. and territories)

(F)Prohibition on certain representations.—
No head and shoulders portrait or bust of any person, living or dead, no portrait of a living person, and no outline or map of a State may be included in the design on the reverse of any quarter dollar under this subsection.
(these are those state quarters you may remember)

(E)Prohibition on certain representations.—
No head and shoulders portrait or bust of any person and no portrait of a living person may be included in the design of any coin issued under this subsection.
(commemorative coins honoring innovators and I do not remember a single one of these)

Anyway this is just one statute about coins. There are all kinds of others about coins and paper currency, and perhaps other similar things.

This doesn't apply to everything, obviously. Where it's prohibited to use an image of a living person, or name something after them, that would be very explicit and specific. For instance, there used to be a prohibition against living people appearing on stamps. This wasn't actually a law, though, it was just a rule of the U.S. Postal Service that they ended in 2011.

One very obvious example of naming something after a living person is when Bill Clinton signed a bill changing the name of Washington National Airport to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to honor Ronald Reagan on his 87th birthday. And in fact, a large federal office building had already been named after him, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Reagan is only one of many who has had federal buildings named after him while alive, though.

True, but the bill in question is H.R., which is a proposed law, while H.Res. is what a proposed resolution is.

Add to the list of my retardations, and I should have known this, too. Yes, it's an actual fucking bill. It's still probably stuck in its subcommittee and will be a huge embarrassment if it ever sees the light of day, and will be reversed by the next Republican Congress, now that the Democrats have telegraphed how utterly mad the Democrats are at the very concept of any federal building named after Trump.

"H.R." stands for "House of Representatives" *facepalms at my own stupidity*

At this point, it's fairly obvious any House resolutions or lawsuits against Trump are little more than political theater and empty virtue signaling.

My personal guess is that Trump's going to retire and just spend the rest of his days in Florida. At most, I can see him endorse certain GOP candidates in the 2022 midterms and 2024, maybe the 2026 midterm if he's alive and healthy enough, but that's it.

Otherwise, Trump is done with politics.

They apparently have plans for a privately-funded one, but the journoscum REEE'd about that, too, because it might archive evidence contrary to the Orange Man Baddest Bad to Ever Bad narrative.

I'm sure there are federal funds for Presidential Libraries, but that doesn't mean if denied them Trump just can't drop his own cash on one, on land he owns.
