I read the title as "Murder the family next door" and was about to question many things.
His wife was a fucking MILF. Why did he have to waste that shit?
No but I watched the JCS-criminal psychology video which seemed to go pretty in depth. does it add anything new?
Because he's a legit psycho and she meant about as much to him as a squirrel running across the street.
Sure, he could lay on the gas and kill the little fucker, but it's not really worth it.

Feels like a parody at this point. Whatever happens to crime when it wasn't about petty things and was like the good old days like Ted Bundy? Feels like modern murder is becoming more pathetic everyday.
I think I remember hearing about this story when it happened.
Because he wasn't important to her, anymore. When a narc can't get anymore fuel from someone, they become disposable. When a psychopath can't get anymore fuel, that can easily lead to murder. He didn't care anymore about his kids than he did her, once they all lost their use.
Watts basically went full retard and figured he could just move on to a new life with his mistress without facing any repercussions for his actions. His mom is a piece of work as well, shit-talking the wife after the murder and barely acknowledging the fact that her son murdered her poor grandkids.
Shannan herself is a complicated person. She gives the impression of being very bossy and controlling (and even a bit on the munchie side), plus she was part of mlm shit. Filmed her kids waaaay too much and seemed to be an attention addict. That said, she seemed to fiercely love her family and certainly did not deserve her fate. She was loved by many people and they did not deserve having her taken from them.
This is interesting as well, along with the JKS episodes.

Shannan was a tragic figure to say the least. If you looked at her facebook posts you could see someone trying desperately to NOT project that her marriage was in trouble. Like when she posted a screenshot of her husband’s reaction to her first ultrasound (“Little peanut! Love him already!”) and captioned it “My girls and I couldn’t ask for a better father!” Laying it on a bit thick there.
I remember this. Any idiot could tell he was lying in that interview on the porch.

Shannan definitely sounds like she was co-dependent. She was apparently doing everything she could to keep Chris from leaving and seemed genuinely obsessed with him. Sounds like a match made in Hell all around. I'm not blaming Shannan for her fate, but she needed to accept that a life without Chris was an inevitability. She thought the man was her salvation. Turns out....not so much.
What's interesting about this case (and others like the Jennifer Pan case,) is how often garage cam footage features as evidence. It astounds me that anyone in an upper class neighborhood would think they could cart bodies out of their house (or let accomplices in), and that no one would be the wiser for it. There are hundreds of hidden cameras in every city now. Even my jerkwater neighborhood probably has 'em.
Watching it now. Shannan has been mentioned on Beauty Parlor (particularly the munchie thread) due to apparently being a munchie, which the documentary hasn't mentioned so far. Not that she deserves what happened to her, but it sounds like she had her own skeletons in the closet.
I canceled Netflix over cuties but I do love a good true crime doc. Anyone know if there is a torrent?
