This is Joe Biden's proposed Stimulus bill. It's likely to change significantly based on whether it can draw Republican support or whether it'll have to pass through reconciliation.

Note: it would also raise the Federal minimum wage to $15.

ProvisionDeficit Impact
Provide $1,400 per person "Recovery Rebates" on top of the $600 already issued$465 billion
Provide aid to state and local governments$350 billion
Increase Unemployment Insurance supplement to $400/week and extend emergency UI provisions through September~$350 billion
Provide funding for a national vaccination program, testing, and other COVID containment efforts$160 billion
Fund school reopening and increase funding to schools and colleges$170 billion
Expand the Child Tax Credit to a refundable $3,000 per child, $3,600 for children under 6 (assuming one year)~$120 billion

For a stimulus these aren't all total shit, but that $15 minimum wage is a killer. At least he's not doing the worst possible thing, which would be announcing "There is no vaccine, that was a conspiracy theory, we need another year or even years of lockdowns, and it's time we as a nation tighten our belts, hang our heads, step down from the world stage and take defeat with dignity and give our Chinese allies and benefactors their turn." but slapping on that minimum wage hike is almost as bad.

$15 minimum wage completely destroys the midwest - decent factory pay out there is around $17/hour starting, and there'd be no pay raises guaranteed.

it would hit the restaurant business hard as well. Its always been thin profit margins as it is, and the lockdowns haven't done smaller stores any favors. I suspect even big chain stores would start hurting.
Big chain stores can absorb the impact, but small businesses can not afford it at all. And if this goes to congress the GOPe will not provide any resistance. Not after the 6th.

All this "Capitol Hill Siege" shitshow smells more and more like an inside job.
It's actually been theorized that the main shit-starters of it were Antifa infiltrators masquerading as Trump supporters who agitated the crowd into storming the capitol, also note that the capitol police practically let them in.

I've read a couple of articles and comments about the general incompetence surrounding the incident: how the FBI refused to issue a warning, how the Pentagon refused to send in the National Guard, how the local leadership failed to request support, the "capitol police selfie", shit like that. There's also this little happening:
I wonder what's the GOP's long-term grand plan after this shitshow. Trump obviously had to go, but they got rid of the baby along with the bathwater.

Frankly, it is trivially easy so long as the media are on your side. You had, what, half a million people show to protest? Getting less than a hundred people to enter the capitol building is trivial when the police literally open the doors for them. You can have a 99.98% peaceful crowd and with that many people still find some that will act violently. Not that they did - they sat in Pelosi's chair and fooled around with the furniture. Can you imagine an Antifa mob in there walking past all those paintings and glass cabinets and saying "don't damage anything". Even with a confirmed provacateur (and probable fed) in there trying to incite people they mostly just wandered around wanting to be heard. Some people are criticizing the protestors for their lack of op sec but why would they? They don't think of themselves as criminals. They saw Kavenaugh protestors occupy a state capitol building and be fine, ten years ago a state capitol building was occupied for two weeks by Liberal protestors. They weren't covering their faces because they didn't know they were violent terrorists. They were just shouting outside the building then the fences were removed and doors were opened and someone shouted "come on" and in they rolled.

There's a police officer who died apparently, but he died in his office alone and I can't find any information on the details other than unsubstantiated reports he was beaten with fire extinguishers. So yes, even if it's not an inside job which seems very plausible, it's been represented in unsupportable ways. It's feels like the Reichstag Fire except they didn't even need to set a fire this time.

Big chains can probably absorb the impact that doesn't mean they wont axe individual stores and cut back on employee benefit programs in others.

There are always weak links in the chain they keep them around to protect their image, if Walmart was to suddenly close 100+ locations where they lose money the damage to their image would be worth less than the money they'd recoup from the closures.

Or, here's a radical fucking idea so bare with me:
end the lockdowns, pay back the people that the GOVERNMENT impoverished by instituting these lockdowns, and start manufacturing shit here again.

I'm really tired of these faggots blaming COVID for this crisis we're in, when it's blatantly obvious it's their fault. I wish that those peaceful protesters on 1/6 actually got their hands on these politicians because they deserve to be publicly executed

Large and small retail stores will just cut employees/hours and make employees take on more unpaid work.

I don’t care anymore. I’ve lost any and all sympathy for American citizens because this is what they voted into power with a smug smile on their face. If their businesses shut down, that’s now their fault, if their minimum wage jobs (because let’s be real) fade away and they’re left with nothing that’s their fault, if their trust funds run out and they can’t do anything about it anymore, that’s their fault. This is THEIR fault for voting him into power and they’ll get what’s coming to them. I’m done putting aside pity for people who keep making the same mistakes. They had one chance with trump and his push for the stimulus and they chose this instead. Fucking rot.

I wouldn't be surprised if the $15 dollar minimum wage increase is one of the points that was intentionally added to be used as a negotiating point to be dropped or at least reduced to something more reasonable like $10 or $12 bucks an hour.

My business will be shutting down, or at the very least I will need to lose half my staff because of this.

The only silver lining is that a lot of the lower level ones were socialist nutcases (only half my fault that they ended up there). Now I get to tell them they can go work their dream job at McDonalds.
