Multiple news agencies are reporting that Donald Trump is considering working together with Dems to pass the DREAM Act-- giving a path to citizenship for undocumented individuals who came to America when they were children and have met certain requirements (college degree, military service, etc.) as leverage to get funding for his wall. Let's just say that his supporters aren't taking too kindly to it.

Keep in mind, this isn't for Paco who crossed the border to steal yer job and rape your kids, it's for people who were brought over against their will to America as small children by their parents and have little to no connection or experience of their home citizenship and have been contributing members of society with no criminal history.

This is gonna be good. From all accounts, Trump gets along much better with Chuck Schumer (a fellow New Yorker who has a long history with Trump) than Mitch McConnell (who Trump has suggested should resign) and cares more as his image of being a dealmaker than any rigid political ideology. Get ready for a wild ride.

This was inevitable really. What the likes of Ann Coulter never understood was that Trump is not ideological in the slightest. First and foremost Trump considers Himself a dealmaker. The Debt ceiling for FEMA funding, the DREAM Act for Tax Reform, scraping the Wall for the RAISE Act, I could go on. With an eye towards Midterms and Reelection stuff like this only going to become more common as Trump launches His long awaited "Pivot to the Center". To Trump and His team building a broader more mainstream voter base is 100% worth sacrificing the Alt Right.

People seem to forget Trump is a dealmaker.

Hell, he wrote a book that states this up front, "The Art of the Deal".

And what he's doing is essentially a deal that let's him get what he wants in the end while making Democrats willing to go along with it.

It's also clever because he makes it hard for them to use the racist card against him because he doesn't want to punish kids used as pawns by illegals, just the illegals, which is admirably lenient and reasonable.

"Contributing." "No criminal history."

Exactly. Deporting millions of people who don't have criminal records was never in the cards but this will still be better than what we've had for years, and the Dems can have their worthless "victory" as well so they're hungry for a compromise, although i wouldn't be surprised if Trump delays the process with more theater to rub the salt in.

And after this is done Trump will have done something Obama couldn't do: Oversee the passing of actual legislation regarding illegals with an established history in the US, rather than patch an executive order on the problem that the next president can wipe away with a stroke of the pen as easily as Trump did to Obama's.

As I already said this was a rude awakening for the Ann Coulters and Stefan Molyneux's of the world. They thought they had an ideological soulmate in Trump. When in reality Trump is more of an Eisenhower/Nixon/Ford/Rockefeller Republican than a Tea Party/Alt Right Bomb Thrower. Its such a shock/"Betrayal" to them because they believed in their Hard Right ideologue fantasy version of Trump. Much to their dismay Trump is exactly what He projects to the world. A lifelong New Yorker who counts the likes of Nixon, Ford and Reagan among His influences.

It's true that most Americans aren't fond of the idea of punishing kids who had no choice, but for those who expect Trump to take the broad way of deportation are pretty misguided. Even Trump himself during the campaign admitted that not all illegals happen to be criminals. At the end, this would likely die down like the Syrian missile incident.
