I'm curious fellow Kiwis, where did your ancestors hail from? What mix of things are you?

Being an Amerifat and a 'Sconsin native at that, I'm predominantly Irish and French Canadian, the former more so. I've also got some Swedish, German and Dutch blood in me, from some to not very much in that order.

don't know my dad so I gathered this from the little I could find.
also my great grandma wasn't french, it was my great GREAT grandma who was the daughter of a french soldier.

A mix of English, German, and Dutch. Though there's probably some Danish or Frisian in there too given where my family is from.

Edit - After a conversation with my oma I found out she's 1/4 Norwegian.

Approximately 1/2 Chinese, 1/4 British, 1/8 Irish, 1/8 German.

And according to 23andMe.com I'm somehow 1/100 Native American on my dad's side.

Mostly Scots-Irish with some French and German. Also a negligible amount of Cuban and Native American.

I usually just call myself "Celtic". Once of Scottish descent, always of Scottish descent.

Half-Filipino and half-American. Based off what my paternal grandfather said (which I kinda take with salt), I have some French, Irish, Italian, German, and Polish in me (the last one kinda makes me wonder if it is true since a buddy of mine said I looked Polish to him IIRC).

Half German, half Finnish. The German side's pretty ridiculously well documented, back to around the 1500's I think, but the Finnish side less so, so there's probably some other varieties of northern Europe mixed in there.

I'm mostly Scottish, Irish, and English, with a bit of Italian, French, and Native American. There might be some more stuff, especially on my bio-dad's side, but I'm not certain. If I actually manage to find a job, I was thinking about trying out some of the stuff on ancestry.com to see how far back I could go.

I'm mostly Dutch (My dad was born in the Netherlands) but my Paternal grandmother had some Jewish ancestry, and I'm assuming Irish since my Maternal grandmother's surname was Murphy before she got married. Apparently way back I had a Chinese relative (according to my dad's family tree) and it seems to be showing now in my cousin and my eyes.

Basically I'm a typical South African with all my mixed blood!

1/2 Russian, 1/4 Scandinavian and 1/4 Mexican Latinx. Some of my father's family emigrated from the Soviet Union during perestroika, while many still live there. We have a lineage of being bodyguards for the tsar; some members were also captains during the Napoleonic wars. My family under the Soviets were less successful, as I heard no end of from my father and grandparents. I still identify as Russian more than anything else. I love its history, arts, cuisine, language, and people. Oh yeah, and the vodka and the guns.

I don't know as much about my mother's side other than that the Scandinavians (grandmother's side) were quiet and stoic while her father and his brothers were drunken assholes.

Since "Puerto Rican" is as valid an ethnicity as "American", I guess I'll break it down.

So besides the obvious African, Native and Spanish, I apparently have a many times famous great-uncle who's father was an Austrian immigrant to Trieste, then Puerto Rico. I also have some Corsican from my maternal grandfather and if what they say about my surname and my father's surnames, then I also have some Sephardic Jew as well. Oy Gevalt.

I'm mostly Belarusian with traces of Polishness (some of my mum's relatives were reportedly Polish).
Otherwise, my family history up until the Soviet Union times was completely unremarkable - all of my ancestors were peasants. Belarusians used to be a peasant nation, after all.

my mom's a cree native american (or aboriginal as canadians like to call it) though she's adopted by a white family. my dad is black irish, so basically a darker skinned irish person
