...Chris has somehow managed to always find 'proof' that his worldview is the 'right' one. Really, how is it that the one instance of Chris making real psychological progress (when he acknowledged that it was primarily his fault that Megan left) has been so easily erased? Did he ever really believe that he was to blame, or was that just a bout of self-pity induced 'guilt' with no real backing? Thoughts?

Simple, if Chris decides to change and twist his memories to put him as the victim/hero, then he will change those memories, and then he will believe them, his ego is so massive, and his intelligence is so incredibly diminute, that as soon as he thinks "megan was da twoll, she's a bitch and it's her fault that my life is shitty" then he will truly believe it in less than a minute, but he will believe it for the rest of his life...

Chris makes me think of a uber-fundamentalist Christian. These Christards look at the Bible, then at their surroundings, and they come up with an explanation for the surroundings to fit the Bible (i.e. dinosaur bones were put here by Satan to fuck around with us) Chris does the same, except put himself in place of the Bible, and make the world conform to his worldview with all sorts of weird excuses and explanations.

Chris kind of reminds me of the average citizen in the book 1984. They are conditioned to believe everything they are told and to feel the way the government wants them to feel.

Except Chris does express discontent, if only mostly via his social media accounts. And, once in a blue moon, he rebels in his own special way.

Chris is all-knowing. It's like when you ask a small child why something is right they'll say "Because it is". Chris's proof could be "because I know it to be true, so it's true" when asked why it's true, he'll shit himself, call you a troll, and yell BECAUSE IT IS TRUE

Every now and then, Chris gets something totally fucking right. His phrase "hurtful TRUTH level" is one such example. Yep, it's hurts Chris because it's the TRUTH.

The difference is you've got apologists who can structure surroundings with the bible in a reasonable fashion. Even the most brilliant person on Earth couldn't possibly look at Chris' life and justify him as a hero/victim. :P

Even though -- if the based their explanation on the literal text, without engaging in sophistry, obfuscation or equivocation -- they'd have to end each pronouncement with "....and this was all because ribwoman made dirtman eat a magic apple on the advice of a talking snake."

Sure they can. They just have to end each pronouncement with "....and this was all because da School Board wouldn't let me get china because of da pickleman."

Hmmm. what if the talking snake was an avatar of Da Pickleman? :geek:

But how can Chris not be a hero when heroism is defined by Chris?

I'm sorry about that. I wrote this post very early in the morning (where I live, anyway), and didn't notice the error until after I posted the thread

Re: And though it all...

Theory 1: Chris only blamed himself because someone he wanted to curry favor with told him to do it. It's like the time he made that video professing that he didn't hate the Xbox anymore--not because he looked back on his actions and thought "I was in the wrong, and I must apologize", but because he thought "Hmm, yeah. If I make da video of me sayin' I don' hate tha hess-box anymore, den Jackie dere will HAVE ta consider havin some hanky panky wit me!".

Theory 2: The idea that someone at the Game Place was the fictional "Prime Troll" isn't a recent idea. Megan was even on his list of potential suspects, but Chris eventually became convinced that it just had to be Michael Snyder and Megan was just an unwilling pawn at the worst. However, this all changed at some point during 2012. I assume that Megan came up in a conversation and Barb revealed that she'd overheard her telling Snyder about how Chris kept making unwanted advances on her. This had a profound effect on Chris--his personal narritive went from "Snyder banned me because he hates autistics" to "Snyder banned me because MEGAN WAS SPREADING LIES ABOUT ME? OH MY GOD SHE WAS THE PRIME TROLL ALL ALONG!".

Those both sound pretty reasonable. Nevertheless, why would it take him so long? It's no secret that Chris loves to defer blame, and so it'd seem that he'd want to blame everyone he could, ASAP. Hell, since he felt so strongly about Megan, wouldn't she be the first on his 'hate list'?

I think he did acknowledge blame a long time ago, sort of. But he didn't think about the issue for a while, and when his mind came back to it... he decided that he was tricked into blaming himself by Megan, which just gave him a greater excuse to be full of hate.

I think he did so as well during the wallflower saga, but it never seemed to go beyond 'we were friends, I did 'x', and now we're not'. Really, he never seemed to think too much about it, which (given his obsession with high school and the Greene county conspiracy) he clearly has the capacity to do
