Mass killer Anders Breivik threatens hunger strike for better video games, end of “torture”

Norwegian mass killer Anders Breivik has threatened to start a hunger strike over his living conditions in jail, it has emerged.

Breivik, who killed 77 people in 2011, compared prison to “torture” and bemoaned, among other things, the lack of an up-to-date video games console in his cell.

His comments were made in a four-page hand-written letter to penitentiary officials, which contains a dozen requests, including making his jail time compliant with European regulations. They also tackle issues of fundamental rights, such as a daily walk and communication.

Breivik requests the Playstation 2 he has access to is replaced by a more recent Playstation 3. “Other inmates have access to video games for adults while I can only play the less interesting children video games. One example is ‘Rayman Revolution,’ a game designed for 3-year-olds,” the 35-year-old wrote.

Breivik, in solitary confinement since 2011 for security reasons, claims he has behaved “in an exemplary fashion” and deserves an improved “activities offer” compared to other inmates.

Breivik also requests the doubling of his weekly allowance of 300 Norwegian crowns (36 euros), to help pay for postage stamps. All the mail he sends and receives is thoroughly searched and filtered by prison staff, which, he laments, slows his exchanges considerably.

He also requests the end to the “almost” daily body searches, access to a PC rather than “worthless typewriter, technology that dates back to 1873,” and more contact with the outside world.

Through hell

“You have put me through hell (…) and I won’t be able to survive it much longer. You are killing me,” Breivik writes to the prison authorities, brandishing the threat of a hunger strike.

“If I die, all the far right radicals and extremists in the European world will know exactly which individuals tortured me to death (…)This could have consequences for some individuals on the short term but also when Norway will have a new fascist regime in 13 to 40 years,” warns the killer, who considers himself a “political prisoner.”

In his letter, Breivik writes that a hunger strike seems like “one of the few and rare alternatives.”

“The hunger strike will not stop until [Norwegian Justice Minister Anders] Anundsen and [Norwegian Penitentiary affairs director] Marianne Vollan stop treating me worse than an animal,” he adds, before saying he will “soon” announce the beginning of his hunger strike.

In previous letters, Breivik, claiming he was a “human rights activist,” had already complained about his living conditions and had attacked the media for not publicising his “torment.” In January 2013, his lawyers announced Breivik had filed a complaint for “aggravated torture”.

On July 22, 2011, Breivik first killed eight people with a bomb near the government headquarters in Oslo, then killed a further 69, mostly teenagers, after opening fire on a Young Labour activists meeting on the island of Utøya.

According to Wikipedia, he was sentenced to 21 years preventative detention, which means they can hold him until he is no longer a menace to society. He'll likely spend the rest of his life in this condition.

He killed 77 people, does he really think life is going to be sunshine and rainbows from now on? Prison is supposed to be punishment.

I think letting him have vidya and a typewriter is being too generous. He can survive without either of them, like countless people have before they were invented.

As far as Brievik being a "political prisoner" sadly there are people who are that deluded out there.

Anders brevik is probably the most extreme epitome of a narcissistic badass/hero/revolutionary wannabe in the modern era. He constructed a grandiose fantasy of being a "soldier and knight templar" fighting against the evil socialistic traitors (i.e. mass slaughtering teenagers in a vaguely left wing organisation) and thus becoming a national hero/martyr, entirely to satisfy a bloated ego, and yet the moment even the slightest consequence of his crimes kick in and he doesnt get treated like royalty as he thinks he deserves, he flies into tard rage and screams about how much he is being persecuted and victimised.

Were he just some internet manchild like CWC whose crimes are not severe (though very contemptible) then I could see him being a lolcow due to his facepalm worthy fantasies and beliefs. However despite being an utterly pathetic tard, he does not qualify as a lolcow due to the fact he carried out these fantasies IRL and almost a hundred kids died because of this. Personally I think there really should be a subforum on lolcows for tards like this who instead of provoking laughter through their idiocy provoke hatred through their actions since there is nothing to laugh at with shitstains like this.

I remember this was a while ago, because my mom and I talked about our amazement of how generous this prison is. For comparison, the Maricopa County Jail (up in the Phoenix area) keeps it's convicted prisoners outside year round with no AC (yes, even in the Arizona summer!) and serves them green lunchmeat they have to pay for.

Scandanavian countrys tend to have extremely progressive societies/cultures in general, and I believe their prisons tend to be infinitely more focussed on rehabilitation than other nations (or at least focussed on stopping people who go in emerging as hardened psychotics) and this has proved pretty damn successful in cutting reoffending rates. The downside of course is that scumbags who deserve to live the rest of their lives in hellholes end up living in relative comfort instead.

There's a reason why spree killers in the US kill themselves rather than be taken alive. They know death is waiting for them. It's inevitable. Even if the state doesn't have capitol punishment, they know in the back of their heads that their notoriety in prison will get them beaten to death. I think the only reason Anders is still alive. He knew the prisons over there are a daycamp. He gets treated better after killing 70 children than US prisoners do for selling weed. That's pretty fucked up.

My experiences in dealing with Sheriff Joes lovely summer estates were not this bad. I have had a few family members who spent some time in prison and the food was roughly school quality, and they received access to health care and adult education.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I do think prisons should be used primarily for rehabilitation in most cases. Not saying that we should give prisoners video games but, ya know, books and shit that might enrich their lives. But with cases like this guy... death penalty. Just fucking do it. And I'm not talking about revenge here. I can think of no logical reason why he should be allowed to continue to live.

And FYI, sanctity of life is bullshit in this case. There are 7 billion of us. We'll get along fine with one less mass murderer.

Especially if the mass murderer is being kept alive by taxpayer dollars.

He kills many people back in 2011 and claims to be a "human rights activist". If he's a human rights activist then I'm Sonichu. Seriously, he shouldn't be playing vidya in prison. (Then again, the prison system within the U.S. is different from the prison system of the country he is in)

If you want a PS3 and play big boy games, don't go to prison.
If you don't want to go to prison, don't kill people.

Let the scumbag starve.

Did you know Norway isn't part of the European Union?
