Because when people go to Gab as their first attempt to support an independent alternative and they have a poor experience, it also puts them off of projects that take themselves seriously. People aren't going to go alternative by alternative until they find a single good one.

It's not even a knock against them personally. I think most of the people working on Gab are good guys, but this business is a joke and I'm embarrassed that these dorks are the only ones making any money.

I don't know why. I mean it doesn't really matter, it's not ideological software. But I can take a few guesses.
