Doesn't mean they couldn't make an arc for it mid-season.Looking at the storyline, it's post Hinamizawa disaster, so I don't think this anime will be related.

I was hoping that there was an upcoming collab with something like Azur Lane or Girls Frontline that I wasn't aware of.
That'd be cool, only if they actually used GG's OP theme in some way, which they wouldn't.Girls Frontline is too busy collabing with Gunslinger Girl
I mean, you can read the manga. Just be aware the manga is 38 volumes, so there's a LOT there. You might just want to watch the 50 episodes of the series instead. You really don't need to worry about a lot of the other versions.Should I just read all Higurashi mangas? I have no shit towards what's happening, or is about to happen, but I have a feeling I'll like the mangas more. I also kinda don't wanna bother with going through all of the VN & other versions (I'll read about it, or watch some lore video on it).
Hrm. Its a major problem honestly. The thing is Rika gets killed the day after the cotton drifting festival so there is no time to cram in every other arc along with the first. And there's also the fact that we're already lagging behind the anime series as to where it originally was. Very little has changed. What would Higurashi 2020 have to do in order to be redeemed in your guys' eyes? Personally, believe they blew their load too early with Episode 2 but I'll hold any further judgement until Onikakushi-hen is finished.
I do too. It has eviscerated the series for me. It is no longer tense or horrifying, I'm just waiting for the idiotic twist.Keep in mind, for starters, that this is NOT Onikakushi-hen. The "next time" trailer at the end of ep. 2 revealed it's a completely new arc. I'd really wish they hadn't gone with "oh the fans already know" ethos and done a slow burn like the original. It's really just the pacing and that clunky reveal with older Rika and Hanyuu.
I've heard that the anime cuts out some of the development that the manga has.I mean, you can read the manga. Just be aware the manga is 38 volumes, so there's a LOT there. Its very difficult for me to say what could redeem it at this point. Its already wasted 3 episodes and it looks like it is going to go through all of the arcs anyway meaning Rika fails even though she has 100% knowledge of what is going on. I feel like it is going to be 'Oh no! 1 really really minor thing changed and I have to go through all the arcs again!'. So it'll basically, fundamentally, be a complete remake. But for some reason, they didn't WANT to do a complete remake so added in a very, very sad excuse for new shit.
Like, just do your remake. Don't do both. If someone jumps into this right after watching Kai, they're going to be pissed because you've already wasted an hour of their time. A sequel needs to fit in with what the series already did. It doesn't. Its already killed its pacing, and for horror that is VERY difficult to get back. I'm not going to know that anything is different, so I don't know to be tense during these tense scenes. So basically, I am waiting to be told a week or two weeks from now to be 'tense'. That's a massive failure. So you've already wasted 1/5th of the series for old fans not knowing they should be tense and just royally confusing new fans with episode 2.
I honestly don't know what they would have to do to right this ship. In all honesty, they've already wasted a chunk of the series. So you've rendered 4 episodes pointless, at minimum. I don't see the logic of having 3 episodes be nearly 100% identical. Its a waste of time.

I don't know why the anime cut out some important details outside of time constraints, but it didn't hurt the anime imho. Still do highly recommend reading the manga. Some of the mangaka actually do multiple arcs (and also return to work on Umineko's manga adaptations), but they all have their own unique vision of Higurashi.I've heard that the anime cuts out some of the development that the manga has.
Honestly, they could've really screwed things up by leaving shit out. Reunion and Yakusamashi-hen are a direct result of Ryukishi07 intervening and demanding DEEN include stuff from the original arcs that got left out.I don't know why the anime cut out some important details outside of time constraints, but it didn't hurt the anime imho. Reunion I think would've been its own episode anyway even though it's the true epilogue to Tsumihoroboshi-hen. It's most interesting they couldn't include it in the first season as the cliffhanger it was always meant to be, but it was smart to have DEEN start out Kai with Reunion and then the anime-original arc.Honestly, they could've really screwed things up by leaving shit out. For the dub of the 2015 show? They're the same voice actors from the Geneon dub and are well-seasoned voice-actors. If they don't sound great in the new movie, that may be the fault of the ADR directors Michael Sinterniklaas and Stephanie Sheh and not just because they had to struggle to match the lip flaps (which was going to be inevitable tbh). Although if this was dubbed through home studios because of COVID lockdowns, that would've definitely hurt it.Aren't the English dub voices the same voices from the newest series? (Most of which did the voices in the old Adult Swim dub?)
My biggest problem was it felt like some lines needed another take, but they just went with the first go through instead. It was weird because sometimes Lupin sounded fine with a really fitting voice and then next line he'd sound weirdly stilted like he hadn't run through the line enough to get a good feel for how he should sound. Those lines just really stuck out to me, maybe there was also a problem of awkward dialogue that added to the stilted line delivery it sometimes had. While there might have been problems caused with lockdowns I think I'd direct my issue more towards the ADR directors. For the dub of the 2015 show? Probably a stretch, but I have a feeling that the ADR directors just aren't used to directing something as fast-paced and wacky as Lupin III. This is their only Lupin III credit for anything, after all. I don't believe they're strangers to each other, least not between Sheh and the others, but the series is fast-paced more often than not and it's witty to boot (least the dub-script is, but the first series had its witty moments, too). They could've been rushing the dub for whatever reason when there was no need to, or they were just having a hard time keeping up with the voice-actors who are very familiar with their characters albeit not for CGI. Even the FUNimation dubs of the specials from the '90s work well despite a different cast, so who knows what was going on with NYAV Post (this movie is also the dubbing studio's first Lupin III production). While there might have been problems caused with lockdowns I think I'd direct my issue more towards the ADR directors.
Umineko is a hell of an experience, although it's missing the community engagement these days. I picked it up just after the fan translation of the third one and the speculation was flying hot and heavy back in those days. I am tempted to put down my thoughts on the two biggest flaws I see in Umineko, but there's no good way to do that without absolutely massive spoilers and bitching about Ryukishi's pathological need to shock and horrify. For now, I think I'll just wait until the season ends to continue watching it and I'll just continue reading Umineko. Also, Umineko is really fucking good and captivating, which is suprising since I normally can't be bothered to sit through visual novels most of the time. Like hot damn, how do you make a conversation about inheritance interesting?

Yeah I just managed to get past the second episode. This is phenomenal so far.Umineko is a hell of an experience, although it's missing the community engagement these days. I'm always interested in people who haven't finished it giving their thoughts about who the culprit is after the 4th Episode. A certain part of the community insists it's obvious. I think they're full of shit, but I thought that since the 3rd Episode.
Ah, Episode 2. The Rosa Musou ending with Worldend Dominator playing. I think it was 2 or 3 am when I got to it, which is the perfect time to play Umineko. Of all of the adults, Rosa's the saddest. The rest are mostly just assholes, but Rosa's just broken.Yeah I just managed to get past the second episode. This is phenomenal so far.
It's a shame Battler lost the game this time around

Yeah my personal opinion of Rosa went completely up in this episode. The parts where she yells at and hits Maria were hard to read. That part cut deep for some reason. Also, how am I supposed to be scared of the big scary witch when the OST GOES SO FUCKING HARD? I'm afraid to share any music out of the fear of spoilers, but there's some gold here.Ah, Episode 2. Just wait until the end of Ep. 4. Since it's the end of the "question" arcs, it goes hard with a suitable soundtrack. In theory, you should be able to figure out who the culprit is by then, but I have my doubts. God knows the community didn't have it right, except the ones that were sorta right by coincidence.Yeah my personal opinion of Rosa went completely up in this episode.
