How many episodes are there to Demon Slayer? I never got into My hero Acadamia or one piece because everything totals in the 100+ episodes or filler and I hate shows like that because they rarely wrap up with a conclusion.

One 24 episode season and a movie. I doubt even when fully finished it would be particularly long.

Chaika the coffin princess...I'll add it to my list.

How about these:

Jormungand
Death Parade
Konosuba
D-Frag
In regards to Escaflowne (yes I have the op on my ipod don't judge) is it entirely mecha? I was hoping for more fantasy akin to Lodoss.
[And yes I know. 'BUT JELLY, YOUR LATE BAE IS IN THE ORIGINAL DUB!!']

Escaflowne is predominantly fantasy, it's pretty much fantasy that just happens to have some fantastical mecha in it. Very entertaining and beautifully animated, well worth a watch. I watched the redub and it's a major improvement over the original dub.

Nobody told me Bikini Warriors was actually good. I was expecting a regular trashy titty anime, not a surprisingly well thought-out parody of video game RPG mechanics.

Do any North American publishers still publish manga in bilingual format for either for English readers learning Japanese or vice-versa? I was asked by someone looking for a Christmas present for a teenager who is learning Japanese if they sold bilingual manga anywhere but I don't know offhand.
The most important thing is to give that kid something he or she would want to read. I learned English because the shit I wanted to read wasn't being translated at all, and went from looking up every second word (in a paper dictionary!) to not needing the dictionary within the span of a single book, because the book was the only book that featured my then-waifu (that was before waifu was a word). I'm now trying to do the same with Japanese, again for the sake of a waifu (it's way harder, and of the stuff I can fluently read or write, I still can't remember how to pronounce about 90%. She's worth it tho.)

My advice is not to look for bilingual manga (the selection is bound to be much smaller) but just buy two versions of something the kid is definitely going to like. And make sure it has furigana (pronunciation hints for kanji), otherwise the kid is totally fucked (furigana is needed to look up words, the alternatives are looking up kanji by stroke (ass-slow), drawing, or OCR).

A good proxy service to use is zenmarket.jp (they don't pay me). They don't ship degeneracy but will lie like a rug on the customs form for other (tax) purposes. For mercari, use jpshopping.jp (horrifying website but excellent backend and customer service).

I think we were just looking to use Amazon since we want the present to arrive before Christmas. Anyway, I suggested Learn Japanese the Manga Way and the person who asked me in the first place (cough cough totally not my mother, okay, it was my mother) thought it was a good idea rather than trying to guess someone else's tastes.

But thank you for the tip, I may take advantage of that site myself sooner or later.

I think the kid already has some Japanese knowledge since they apparently teach that as an option in some Seattle area schools.

Is Haibane Renmei similar to Kino's Journey and Girl's Last Tour? I always see that show being discussed in the same realm and I'll probably watch it after I finish Kino's Journey anyway.

Jormungand - Very similar to Black Lagoon with a fun cast to follow, though I've heard the ending is somewhat meh. Lots of fun gunfights backed by a nice ost.
Death Parade - Haven't seen this one myself so I can't offer much besides that I've heard people praise it a lot. I have watched the short OVA that the series is based on (Death Billiards) and liked it. I kind of just skipped the series and started listening to BRADIO's discography instead due to the show having them do the opening.
Konosuba - Fun comedy show if you like its style of humor, I'd recommend watching the first couple episodes to see if you'll like it.
D-Frag - Another comedy that I remember enjoying but it didn't really stand out much to me, relies a lot on "straight man reacts to weird person/thing" that's pretty common in Japanese comedy.

Regarding Escaflowne, it's part of the very sparse Medieval Mecha genre which features more grounded mecha fights (typically). Usually means there isn't much beam spam but more sword fights and the mecha themselves acting more like giant suits of armor. There are mecha fights but a lot more focus is put on the fantasy journey (something I remember getting a little sad about since I was originally there to watch mecha duke it out with swords) so I think it'll still be more fantasy.

While I was looking up if Medieval Mecha was actually a term I found some sick art for two older entries into the genre Dunbine and Galient that I just feel like sharing.

What's the best early 00s anime? Looking for something to watch cuz I'm bored.
Hard to determine what the "best" is since it's all down to personal opinion, but if I were to give you some recs similar to how sasazuka did given the same 2000-2004 limit:
General highly regarded: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Personal Recs: Princess Tutu and Galaxy Angels. I recommend the dub for both, especially Princess Tutu.
Underrated: Fafner
Guilty pleasure but so much fun: Gundam Seed (Original dub, not whatever garbage new dub they did that got rid of Surfer Kira and Mark Oliver hamming it up as Rau)
Special mentions: Interstella 5555 (Basically movie length music videos for Daft Punk's Discovery album, worth if you like Daft Punk, story is simple but nice) and Texhnolyze (Reason it's here is that you need to be in a specific state of mind to enjoy it and it's not for everyone. I know I'm putting off a re-watch because the show will fuck me up if I watched it right now).

Konosuba is one of my favorite shows for it's humor alone, though if you don't care for it's humor in the first few episodes you won't like the series as a whole.
It does an excellent job of making fun of every isekai trope in the best way, and Kazuma is the perfect representation of how a weeb who was isekai'd would actually be like.
There's two seasons and a movie, and the movie even has a gold medal for triggering western media who claimed it was transphobic.

Just re-watched and reread Beelzebub . I don't know what it is about this series but no matter how many times I reread it or watch it again It never fails to make me laugh.

I haven't really kept up with the current anime series so does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not picky with what I watch other than no Mecha.

Recommend Death Parade, but check out Death Billiards first so you can get a good feel what to expect. D-Frag was a fun way to poke fun of game clubs and that no actual game development goes on because they're run by a bunch of wackos who just needed an excuse to slack off.

Escaflowne has more mecha elements than Magic Knight Rayearth does lol. Still is relatively fantasy-esque. It's a really interesting mix of shounen and shoujo elements that is sorely missed in anime, and it honestly sucks that the creators couldn't get the full 36/39 episodes that they originally wanted, so it's all crammed into 26 episodes, but it's still such a beautiful world that it's forgivable, and admirable what they've managed to do in such itty-bitty living space. I know most people will say to ignore the movie because of how vastly different it is especially when it comes to Van and Hitomi's character, and Alan and Millerna got the shaft, but I have a soft spot for it as it was my first introduction to the world of Gaea (but also, Escaflowne is unique in that there are multiple retellings of the world--the manga is based off of the early production of the story, though it's rather polarizing). The movie has beautiful animation, an awesome new soundtrack by Yoko Kanno, and the Ocean dub is so much better than in the TV series (although for some reason the audio track's really quiet until Hitomi enters Gaea). Andrew Francis perfected Dilandau, especially in the movie.

As a grown adult, no one should be ashamed to admit that series like Aikatsu, Mewkledreamy or the Precure series are the best things to watch this time of year. In fact, since 2021 is almost a more few weeks away, I’m making it a goal to see how long I can last when watching magical girl/Idol anime?

I’ve done it before with Cardcaptor Sakura, so why can I not do it now?

I always get surprised at people that off-hand reject the idea of watching such shows with stupid comments like "those are for little girls" when a lot of great content is marketed at kids anyway. Gets kind of funny when they list off their favorite shows and it includes a bunch of Shonen titles. I do find though that I can only take such shows in short bursts. Especially Aikatsu I've been having difficulty with due to how the cgi looks in the first season, I've heard it gets better latter, still rough to watch. Does help that the series has a great anisong remix scene that's almost up there with Im@s, was the original reason I even found out about the show as Aikatsu mixes are a staple of Mogra by this point.

People also don't seem to get how shows like that can sometimes have the best animation of the season, a whole bunch of clips from those sakuga compilations come from various Precure shows. Currently watching through Heartcatch Precure because I'm a big fan of Umakoshi and their character designs, which has gotten me to watch/enjoy a lot of shows. Like, I watched Saint Seiya Omega simply because of the character designs and ended up really enjoying the first season, have yet to watch past it however. Think Umakoshi was actually the one to do the sakuga fest of the final fight from Omega too, part of which is included in this sakuga video about him.

So she's gonna stick to her guns and keep it.

I found out Hong Kong-based Ani-One Asia is streaming it with English subs for the SEA region, so I bookmarked the YouTube channel to start with them next week. It's too bad Attack on Titan is blacklisted, the channel might actually gain in subscribers streaming the last season, though I find it interesting China hasn't blacklisted Higurashi despite it being just as violent as the other banned shows.
