At least 2021 starts off strong. Yuru Camp and Cells at Work for feels, and Cells at work Black for making me feel like shit for eating unhealthy (and forever tainting the google searches for white blood cells). I'm kinda worried that those cutesy creatures in Cells opening and hope they won't get shoved in everywhere.
Spider Reincarnation is fantastic and Aoi Yuki carries the show by herself, the point with the humans is pretty boring though so I hope there will be as little of those as possible (at least it will piss off some people). I don't understand if everyone got reincarnated the same time and there will be some sort of time skip for spider girl (since everyone is 17), or that they just possesed people around the same age group.
I'll keep watching Jujutsu Kaisen, but so far it's kinda meh. It looks fantastic, but in terms of goals and progress it feels like nothing was really achieved. Plus they don't really utilize the horror angle of the premise.
I'll finished with the fun out of context line:

I never saw Tales from Earthsea but the original Japanese trailer from 2006, and we're talking the OG Youtube era here, sure made it look like a movie with a lot of fantasy characters walking or riding from place to place, looking at the sky, and handing each other magical staffs and talismans. I think there were a few fleeting shots of actual interesting things but the trailer, as a whole, gave me the impression that it was a movie about walking around in fantasy land.

The human segments take place much farther into the future than the spider segments and take place over a much shorter amount of time, future spidergirl is also strongly hinted at and later directly appears in some of these segments(without the story telling you it is her). The spider segments will eventually catch up, might take a while for the anime adaption though, since a large portion of the web novel/light novel has this quirk

So I'm a Spider, So What? was nice. I don't usually watch anime as they air but I might for this. That said, I'm always skeptical of anime that adapt manga / light novels that are still in the middle of their runs.

Stuck having to marathon watch through the stuff I was watching last season before I can full focus on next season, always happens yet I always get surprised. I've finished up Majo no Tabitabi and Yuukoku no Moriarty so far while still needing to finish up Adachi to Shimamura, Love Live, Maou-jou de Oyasumi, and Ochikobore Fruit Tart.

If I was to give a quick review for the two I finished, Majo was pretty enjoyable episodic series throughout though episode 9 (I think) felt out of left field with how randomly dark it was and didn't really work for me. As for Moriarty, it really picked up after they introduced Sherlock with before it was just okay. Seemed like they were speeding through the story to get to Sherlock as fast as they could and the beginning somewhat suffered since the early cases were condensed to fit into one to two episodes.
Maria Watches Over Us looks interesting
I like the art style. Anyone seen it? Reminds me of Dear Brother
I've watched some of the first season and it wasn't bad, very much a classic of the Yuri genre. Slow show that deals a lot with relationship drama inherent in the whole sister system. Anime does suffer from being done by Deen in the early 2000s and it's not a full adaption of the series either since the LN it's based on ended in 2012 after 39 volumes. Does get a bit overly dramatic sometimes, but the series takes place in an all girls Catholic school full of lesbians so it fits and it being over the top is a lot of fun sometimes.

Talking about Maria-sama reminds me I need to watch Strawberry Panic since it looks like it might be fun. All I know about the series is random shitposting on /a/ about "Tamaofags still crying!" and this:

I still can't get over them picking that design for Kumo over the superior manga version, I know it's being accurate the LN, still sucks. I read the Kumo wn for a while but couldn't stand the jumps to the none Kumo characters because I just didn't care about any of them and dropped it for the manga which I've liked a lot more, maybe it's better done in the LN since I've never bothered to check it out myself.

Just watched Higurashi Gou ep 14, I've also watched OG and Kai, and you know what Rika, since this is by your own admission a direct sequel to the original? It's about high time you gave up and let yourself die forever. You're not meant to have a happy ending as the universe has clearly established time and time again and your presence only leads your friends to suffer. I hope Gou ends with Rika killing herself and staying dead.

“I’m very happy that ‘Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru,’ which was the first manga that I drew with a ‘story’ in mind in a weekly magazine, will be adapted into an anime. Not only as an author, but also as a viewer, I’m really looking forward to seeing it in action with voices. I’ll be working even harder than before on the original manga, so please give me your support.”

I actually liked this new manga last year, while it was still updating. It showed that he can be great at telling romance stories, while doing more than just teasing Takagi-san. With that said, I’m looking forward to seeing this get adapted to the small screen.

Also, there’s a commercial showing that the anime version of this will be made in 2022:

Watched the first five episodes of The Great Pretender, didn't like it. It relies too much on chaining together Ocean 11 style "but the real scam was...". It works having been done once in a 90 minute movie, but in an episodic format it just gets old, feels lazy and raises a lot of plot holes about how people are so consistently lax in background checks.
The backgrounds also look like the animators took photos and put filters on them. Sometimes it works, but a lot of time it looks excessive.
Does it get better in next arcs?

As much as I generally liked the show, It relies a lot on that sort of thing and it annoyed me too. Laurent comes off as borderline omnipotent sometimes and it's hard to take any potential threats to their scams seriously because you know he's going to have an asspull ready at the last second. Honestly the first arc (or Case as the show labels it) is pretty weak. The second and third one are much better but then they kind of drop the ball hard with the final one.

I really liked the backgrounds and animation but yeah it's very stylized and I can see why it might put some off. I'd say try to at least give the next arc Singapore Sky a try. It's a lot better than the introduction imo.

Someone posted OIshinbo way back in the thread and it's pretty fun. I was watching the Inka-subs version because i don't like the split episodes releases the "official" youtube channel does. Somewhere between episodes 19-23, inka stopped subbing them because of the "official" channel releasing episodes subbed and is rumored to be officially licensed in the US. The Official channel on the other hand, is going to skip 15 episodes and release everything in 2 parts. Does anyone know if Oishinbo is going to get a legit release in the US? because i'd rather buy it than watch it 2parts. .
Honestly, I don't know if it'll be released out here. Turns out the manga's licensed by Viz, but not sure if the anime will come out here.

About every 45 days, they privatize a few videos with low views, and sometime today that's what they did to a couple of episodes. This is actually kind of a perfect time for anyone who's still interested in watching the show to go watch the 23 episodes Inka subbed and catch up, as episode 24 is "Chuka Soba Life", which is listed as episode 21 on the YouTube channel. It's best to not binge it, but unfortunately there's a time-limit when it comes to this show. It's well worth the watch, though, it's been enjoyable.

tbh I never go the hype for takagi-san. so a middle schooler not acting like one constantly dunks on her love interest that's written especially dumb just to make it work. I watched 4 episodes and felt like a different version of the same plot over and over, it was kinda fun the first time but became boring fast. is it just a very slow cooker or does it never change at all to keep the "comedy"?
I mean I get why people can enjoy it in a kinda simpy way, and it is charming, but why it blew up the way it did... dunno.

I'm just glad we got the shimarin-bun back (or keep it till she cuts her hair), that first episode so damn good with all the throwbacks. really need to check the manga now if it was always there or game with the adaption.

Would anyone recommend watching Symphogear? From I've seen of the trailers it seems rather enjoyable but my only concern is that I'd fall out of favor with it because the general consensus is that season 1 isn't very good.
