IIRC the truck thing was popularized with some early 80s family friendly magical girl anime called Minky Momo. Same guy who wrote the Pokemon anime decided to end the series by having the main character get hit by a truck. No warning either, it was an episodic cutesy show families sat down to watch every week and then BAM. It's like if they ended Pokemon by having Ash check for mew under the truck but then it rolls over his neck.

I was referring to the more opening plotline of "MC pushes someone out the of way of a truck, gets killed, and is reincarnated as a baby in another world with full memories of their past life".

This may sound super-specific, but this has been used so much in the last few years it's the norm for Isekai

Descriptions even more specific can still be used to describe more than one isekai.

I remember Konosuba mocking this with the way its protagonist died.

I like how the go-to death for otome isekais always seems to be either overworking to death or freezing to death on accident.

The reactions to Healer Hero are what you'd expect. I assume after sperging out about it on twitter for a week or two they'll forget about it and move onto something else like they did with Goblin Slayer and Shield Hero. Haven't watched the first episode myself yet though, I'm waiting for the uncensored version to drop.
I mean, to be fair, this anime sort of deserves the "wtf" that those others actually got. It's purely about a dude who gets turned into a semi-comatose druggie and raped (by both men and women) then starts working on his revenge.

Not that I can find a relevant clip of it on the Internet anymore, but I prefer the black Mercedes-Benz of Amnesia from the show-within-a-show "Sensei and Ninomiya-kun" from the first season of Minami-ke.

Yeah, but I’m sure people are only going to be mad about the guy raping the girl/former rapist, not that he himself was raped. That’s how Twitter do.

"B-but women can't rape!" The first episode wasn't as abhorrent as people made it out to be. There was one questionable scene, at best. We'll see how it ventures with further episodes. People were acting as if this show was the equivalent of the ending of the 1997 Berserk anime mixed with the first Goblin Slayer episode.

It would have made more sense for Ilya to have her own route (or really this route since she has more of a connection to the grail, previous routes and Shirou's past). Plus her and Berserker's back story is fucking tragic.

Nah she was a good choice and contrast to the other routes. The other guy said she was just there to make them doubt their ideals, but really that just memes "she's just there so the entire theme of the story can work". They should totally have done an Illya route, but it would have been harder to work the story they wanted into it.

Its not like the girls need a connection to the grail or MC for the story to work. Having Sakura there changed the plot enough to keep it interesting, since her route was the last of the three you unlock if my memory is right.

Any high quality salt you want to share with the class?

That is YuYu Hakisho though, as long as you count the Spirit World as another world and ignore the baby part

MAL forums & redditors already are doing that lol. Seriously, someone on the MAL forums said that the show is putting "toxic masculinity" in a good light, & that he does everything cause people were "just mean to him".

I'm not even joking, this was in a discussion just 14 mins ago from now. This was just in the 2nd comment & is being deservingly bashed.

Or they spin it very slightly like Youjo Senki, and make it a train.

This is why Konosuba remains one of my favorite shows, and is probably my favorite isekai.
It does everything in it's power to absolutely mock every trope and stereotype from the genre and it's fantastic.

Archive might've cut some words off, but it's archived just in case.

These last 2 episodes have been a doozy.

Last episode, Hanyuu "dies" and Rika becomes aware of her past loops and proclaims that she will kill herself for real if she can't escape in 5 loops.

In this episode, Rika loses 4/5 lives dying during different days. It was literally a death montage where it goes from wholesome music with Akasaka and Rika to hard cut and she's fucking dead. A common trope among all of the killers is that they all are L5 which makes me think that somebody (probably another looper) is intentionally injecting them with something.

The fact that Keiichi has survived each loop or hasn't gone crazy in each loop is down the toilet, unfortunately, but my Satoko culprit theory is still green. They don't show Satoko's face in any of the scenes where people go L5 at all and it makes me think that she may have more to do with these murders than what meets the eye. They also confirm that Rika did go to St. Lucia 5 years after the original Higurashi. My theory is that Satoko was left in Hinamizawa all on her own and got lonely after 5 years of isolation. She did something and suddenly Rika was back in 1983 and now Satoko is trying her damndest to keep Rika in the time loop. I'm also still curious about Tomitake and Takano but maybe I'm just overthinking things.

I am confused as to what they're going to do for Sotsu or the 2nd season. Is it going to take place after Rika kills herself with the shard? Is it going to take place in the 5 years after the original Higurashi? Is it going to explain how Rika even got back in the loop? Is it just going to be her last life where she tries her hardest to survive and it's just Matsuribayashi but without Hanyuu and stretched out for a whole cour? God I hope not.

At least we got to see what Keropoyo from Ciconia looks like in animated form. How cute.
