I don't care either way but any potential controversy could easily have been avoided by not virtue signalling about pronouns in the advertising and instead letting the small subset of anime fans who care about pronouns in magical genderbending romantic comedies* laud Discotek's pronoun use in their reviews.

* Yeah, I know, in this particular case, it wasn't so much "magical" as it was "alien resurrection technology that also reversed his gender because [reasons]".
Suddenly I don't want Cheeky Angel to get a proper release out here anymore. The manga got fully translated just before the onslaught of SJWs made their way into Viz.

Got around to reading Shounen no Abyss recently, its pretty wild so far and seems like it'll only get crazier. I was a bit skeptical at first due to not really liking the author's last work, but its a lot of fun.
Its about a suicidal kid in a shitty family situation surrounded by batshit women (and one homosexual) that keep trying to manipulate him one way or another.

Also works as a good PSA for highschool lads on how if an adult is willing to fuck you they're most likely insane and you should start running.

I have no real interest in reading Demon Slayer but I heard a rough rundown of the movie and the concept of a train demon vaguely interested me. Is it worth a watch if I don’t plan on watching the anime?

Yeah, that arc is very important to the overall story.

Watch M.D. Geist! You have absolutely no excuse not to!
I tricked my brother to buying this legendary must-see anime at a thrift store so we could watch it together that night. Before the first OVA was finished, he realized he'd been had.

First OVA is more entertaining than the second, by all means, but it was worth it to watch the life leave his eyes.

Has anyone watched the original gundam movies in english? it's terrible. Terrible acting and they call gundam "gun-damn". I was so thrown off i had to check out wikipedia and it turns out the english dub for the movies was in 92, and bandai knew it was shit and didn't release it for any of the new HD releases. They made Bright an Englishman. its bizzaro gundam.

definitely worth a listen because it's a great shitty english dub.

Watched these BL movies yesterday (both released in 2020), my short little review of them.

Yes ka No ka Hanbun ka: About a desperate guy thirsting after an emotional immature guy on 27 years, acting like a rebellious teenager. Rape is pretty standard in BL, so I'm indifferent to that. In this case I was glad to watch the manchild being raped, because holy fuck. My dude deserved it for putting up with this shit. Too bad it wasn't more brutal like Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi.

Umibe no Étranger: Two gay kids on an island fell in love, only family to the one dies and he gets sent to an institution He moves back when they're 20. Other dude is distancing himself, because PTSD of being bullied for being gay. They eventually fuck, a first one for me. Where they mention preparing before analsex. A very sweet story that made me into my avatar.

Dear Brother (Oniisama E) is the second of Riyoko Ikeda's works to be adapted for an anime. It was released in 1991. Osamu Dedaki returns to the fray to work on it too.

It's essentially very very dramatic Yuri in a school setting. Its the precursor for Maria Watches Over Us if that tells you anything. It almost seems like you expect a character to faint at the stupidest thing and then someone asks for the vapors and smelling salts.

Theres a lot to do with honorific titles and the 'older ____' to younger girl relationships that MWOU develops. It is just as dramatic as Rose of Versailles.

It was banned in a few countries because of the 25th episode. There's also a very memorable scene in an episode with a box cutter. This show isn't all androgynous women and frilly lipstick lesbians though. The protagonist every episode narrates events in letters to her brother. There's a lot of enka music too.

Rose of Versailles laid the groundwork. Dear Brother took that and molded it. Utena, Strawberry Egg, and Maria took it and ran with it.

So yeah, this episode pretty much cemented it for me that Satoko was just faking Hinamizawa Syndrome so Rika wouldn't question anything as she was gutting her. And Satoko did it for the lulz in an attempt to destabilize Rika. That's pretty fucked.
I hope this ends with them committing suicide by truck in traditional isekai fashion.

Speaking of the manga / anime Space Brothers...

The Cow Parade Moonwalker statue is used fairly prominently to establish the location is Houston. I wonder how many people who read the manga realize they didn't make it up.

Reminds me of this part in Gundam Stardust Memory where they're sitting in depressed, awkward silence because war and shit, but the dub adds in the line "awkwaaaarrrd" like it's a 90s sitcom.

Not really anime but Naoki Urasawa did some animation/storyboard for a music video a few days ago
Sadly this is probably the closest we'll ever get to a 20th Century Boys anime.

This probably explains a comment he made a few months ago about making an anime, although not gonna lie I assumed it was gonna be an adaption of another one of his work or him helping on the Pluto anime (which still hasn't had any new news since the PV was shown almost 2 years aside from some twitter rando claiming a source told him that it'll be a 24 episode split cour a few months ago)

That's what doesn't make any sense to me about sanitizing content. There could be an option to choose the original version along with the edited version. They should apply this to video games that have "problematic" content or just put a disclaimer in front of it. Justin responded and is using the excuse that Caleb Cook was harrassed by the My Hero Academia fans regarding a translation for pity:

Pathetic, why should a Florida man be scared of a bunch of mere mortals?
