I'd estimate he probably has a couple thousand actual fans and several hundred thousand casual but consistent watchers, beyond that his influence is on existent.
The fact that so many genre tourists still name Anthony Fantano as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" music critic ever only tells you how far shallow poptimist music consumers are from becoming serious art enjoyers. Art enjoyers have long recognized that the greatest music critics of all times are Scruffy and Christgau, who were not the most famous or richest or most clicked of their times, let alone all times. OG music enjoyers rank the highly controversial Beatles review over poptimist reviewers who are highly popular on social media websites around the world. Music consumers are still blinded by commercial success. Anthony Fantano has more developed and broad, less shallow music taste (not true, by the way), therefore he must be the greatest critic. Old school critics grow up listening to a lot of music that doesn't top the charts, poptimist critics grow up only listening to whatever tops the charts. Poptimist critics are totally ignorant of music that doesn't go diamond, they barely know any of the best platinum, gold or silver albums. No wonder they think Fantano has good taste.
Speaking as a zoomer, most of his fans have the same mindset as this site (but to a lesser extent). The racism jokes in the comments are because his fans see him as a joke- when he puts out a "bad review", as he does every couple weeks to drive up views, the response is always "Oh Anthony, you've done it again". Nobody bothers to write a critical response because he's not a critic, he's just a living meme that assigns numbers to popular albums.
