A few clarifications:
The irl stalker was actually unrelated to Voltron shipping discourse. The relation to shipping discourse is that the irl stalker claimed to be a popular anti blogger, alluruh. When alluruh was told about this, she made a big deal making it about herself ("omg I can't believe I was impersonated") even though the victim was sent graphic details of the rape they went through as a child that they had never told anyone. Even when alluruh was told this was wrong and apologized, other antis continued to follow suit and make it all about her instead of the actual victim.

Also, on the situation the one voice actress, people's behavior towards her had gotten so bad that people started talking about killing her. Because she reblogged a piece of fanart that was part of an ABO au (ABO is alpha/beta/omega, it's basically an AU where some dudes can get pregnant) which she pretty clearly just reblogged because it was nice fanart of the character she voices and the character's older brother.
Some other major incidents:
Some fans hosted a Voltron-themed cafe, which a voice actor attended, and the people who hosted it happened to ship Shiro and Keith (25 y/o and 18/19 y/o) and Pidge and Lance (15 y/o and 17 y/o), so antis on Twitter talked about how disgusting it was, how the hosts were a danger to children and others, and talked about wanting to egg it/the hosts and burn the building it was hosted in down. (Note: Antis frequently refer to the pairing of Shiro and Keith being incest because Keith tells Shiro he's like a brother to him once and because they're both Asian)
An anti on Twitter filming the nine year old she's babysitting saying the pairing between the 25 year old and 18 year old is "sexual assault" and posting the video without the parents consent (and claiming that she didn't tell the nine year old to say it and yet showing no concern how said child knew the phrase sexual assault)
As mentioned previously, an anti stole $1400 from a fanzine for an Overwatch pairing to spend on fanmerch. Said anti is 22, and the money was supposed to go to two LGBT charities - one for homeless LGBT people and one for LGBT people in Japan.
There's also a more incidents,
like harassing the woman on twitter with the @klance handle (klance is Voltron anti's favorite pairing) and spamming her, despite it being her professional twitter (her name is Karen Lance, hence KLance),
harassing one of the voice actors for him believing that making characters visibly LGBT is like forcing them to wear a star of david or pink triangle (note: the voice actor is Jewish) and then trying to get him to break his NDA by trying to force him to confirm if Klance will be canon or not (note: the writers already said it wouldn't be canon months previously) and who the LGBT characters are, if there are any,
spamming and harassing the voice actor for Lance on his instagram posts for stating that Keith and Lance were like brothers,
telling a voice actor he supports pedophilia for supporting the pairing of Shiro and Keith (two adults) and dragging his kids into the argument,
and there's honestly... a lot more stuff.
God I feel like I have :autism: now.

Whats funny is Reylo is a het ship, and I'm sure that's part of why it's so hated (because equally and even more "abusive" ships like Kylux don't get anywhere near that level of hate). Yaoi fangirls/fujoshi have been known to do some pretty awful shit over the years (smacking people with paddles, creeping on actual queer men, misogyny, etc) but this shit is just as if not worse than the ugliest fujoshi antics. I don't know, but I don't think those accusations are true or are as drammatic as they make up to be, as a lot of stuff is manipulated just for the sake of it.The people who are misogynist are probably the ones who hate those fangirls, as it seems it all boils down to them being emotional\impulsive girls acting typically different from the educated academic type.
I've seen misogyny on the level of particularily nasty manosphere bloggers out of yaoi fangirls. Plenty aren't like that, but they do exist. I do agree that a lot of the transtrender/anti types strongly come off as misogynists, moreso than the honest fujos at this point.
I think ultimately the issues with yaoi/fujoshi aren't girls flicking the bean to fictional men banging, it's behaviors associated with that community that involve real people being harassed and shit like that. Yeah. It’s been a while back, but IIRC a fan somehow got copies of unreleased artwork or whatever and threatened to release it if the creators didn’t make a pairing canon. Fandom antics have been getting pretty out of hand recently. I’m surprised there’s only a few incidents where the cops were involved.
As far as I remember, someone was lucky enough to be given a tour of the studio where Voltron is made. They took pictures with their cellphones and uploaded them to the internet, but had to take them down for obvious reasons. Then some crazy Klance fan claimed that they had saved these pictures and tried to blackmail the studio into giving them canon Klance in exchange for them. Some believe it was a troll account, but many Klance fans are fucking crazy so I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

And it's obvious that for most of the shippers it's nothing but wish fulfillment. I'm sure most of them just insert into Rey because they want to touch Kylo tiddies and have a boner for 'bad boys'. It's the same thing as Twilight and 50shades and while the promoting abuse part might be worth a discussion I'm not sure if that content has the damaging effect these people think it has. Especially when it comes to fanfiction - nobody irl fucking cares about Reylo or Shaladin or whatever problematic thing evil straight girls/fujos shlick it to nowadays.
But yeah, it's not like this is what it's really about anyway. These people just can't stand the idea that 1) a guy they have the hots for ends up being with a woman or 2) that a guy they don't have the hots for ends up getting a ridiculous amount of attention by other fangirls.
And all Yaoi might be a bunch of badly written crap and most fujos annoying creeps but I prefer all of this over people bullying girls over something as stupid as the age difference in a ship or using progressiveness as an excuse to shit on a ship they don't like.
I've heard it speculated that the "girl redeems bad boy" trope is in a way a power fantasy because what's more powerful than having this evil asshole dude at your beck and call? I think there are other reasons people like that stuff too but it's interesting to think about.
As for the "promotes abuse" thing I feel like healthy people are capable of telling fantasy from reality, and even if that weren't the case there's way more and way more fucked up and abusive Kylux content out there than Reylo. While Kylux does have a hatedom as well it's usually people bashing it because it involves two white guys, not because it's abusive.
It's funny because as much as they shit on fujoshi they pull a lot of the classic fujoshit behavior like attacking het shippers for simply existing.

owerlevel because I'll be speaking from experience. Mostly I want to describe how m/f shippers act vs the m/m shippers. If you're here just for the posts and names, then ignore it, idk. Sorry for the wall of text but I guess I'm "passionate" about this topic and wanted to give some perspective for those who maybe aren't involved in shipping?I've been involved with fandoms and shipping since 2013 - mostly creating content but rarely involving myself in discussions. I won't speak for everyone but I was lucky enough to find reasonable and accepting people - most of them around 20 or 30, women, some married, few had kids, most of them were also het although many were bi. 90% of us shipped m/f (het ships).
Never have I ever seen any of them wasting time on posting hate about other ships. We were all doing our own thing, knowing there's no point with getting ourselves involved with content we won't enjoy. Because of that, my belief is that m/f shippers are most mature and reasonable, as they do not have to pretend to be "transbois" or "demi-girl sappho godkins" to excuse fetishization of gays/lesbians (I'm not saying that it's always the case, there are good and bad people on both sides). But while m/f shippers were actually just trying to have fun m/m (recently f/f with being ~a nb lesbian~ quite popular) would write essays on why x ship is problematic, making posts how x shippers should kill themselves and purposely tag it with the x ship's tag so everyone would see.
Now, no one from the communities I was involved in was crying over that. I'd see some people responding with simply asking the OP to remove the tags not to upset other people (although less people were upset over it, most laughed shit like that off), or try to have a civil discussions.
But god forbid you dared to question the point of a "m/m" or "f/f" ship, or if you declared you don't enjoy gay ships (which is reasonable, a straight woman will probably want a self insert who is the same sex as her) - in that case the whole communities would scream homophobia/misogyny/whatever, tell you that you oppress them, dig into your past to make call out posts, basically act worse than :autism

Most m/m or f/f shippers were teenagers who didn't want to be "like other girls" and were doing lots of mental gymnastics to justify their ships. (hence the increase in so many girls being non-binary/trans, they don't want to be seen as fetishists) I was friends with a girl who told me that "shipping Sherlock and Watson made her question her sexuality because she just LOVES GAYS so much!" and would always paint herself as an advocate for gay rights. As a test I told her once that as a queer person I felt uncomfortable by something she said (just to see her reaction), but of course I was ignored because I wasn't a "precious soft gay husbando". That kind of attitude could be noticed among other fujoshi/transbois on Tumblr - whine about shit that doesn't matter and pretend you care about real life issues (but that's true with any activists group on Tumblr).

It's funny because if you dug through the crazy fan's tweets before they deleted, it seemed even more legit, as they seemed young and talked about how they made this as a separate account from their actual twitter, why they wanted klance to be canon, etc. Unfortunately, antis decided that it was obviously a shaladin shipper (someone who ships Shiro with any of the other paladins) pretending to be a Klancer anti to make antis look bad! Even though evidence points to a random troll or an actual Klancer.
Voltron antis usually fit the "anti fujoshi that's secretly a fujoshi" mold, with how they obsess over gay male pairings, and how Klance hits all the major yaoi tropes.
Yeah it's been discussed over in the shipping thread in Community watch. There are some exceptions like Harry/Hermione shippers being notoriously batshit and there being a surprising level of insanity from some Finn/Rey shippers but overall het shippers tend to be better behaved than slash shippers of either the honest fujoshit or self loathing transtrender variety. Some Reylo shippers get autistic but they're overall much better behaved than the Stormpilot and Kylux camps (the former especially probably has the most batshit people of all in the new SW fandom because that's where the nuttiest SJWs are).:powerlevel

From what I hear the Klance shippers are the source of most of the fuckery in the Voltron fandom. They honestly sound like a present day version of the Heero/Duo shippers from the raging dumpster fire that was the Gundam Wing fandom back in the day. Only at least most Heero/Duo shippers weren't transtrenders because that wasn't really a thing back then.
