Any runners here? -

I run competitively, but am currently on a bit of a hiatus. I haven't run any races so far this year (2020) and my training/conditioning has really dropped off. I am hoping to get back into it during summer and fall so that I can start racing again.

I can't swim and the beaches are locked down
My mom does leg lifts to help strengthen her knees. It seems weird, but I think the idea is to compensate for her weaker joints (RA) but building up the surrounding muscles. As it is a body weight exercise, she doesn't need equipment. The only problem is getting up off the floor when she's done.

I'll have to start doing that. Thank ya for the tip

I set a PR yesterday for a 10k! One of the runs I do every year to benefit our local parks and rec went virtual this year and I had the whole month to do the run on my own and submit my time. Normally I do it in around 1:30 and yesterday I cut it down to 1:18. I'm not a fast runner by any means! Part of the reason that my event time ends up 1:30 is that it's a beach run which I feel makes me a little slower. And there's a few spots where water rolls down from the hills into the ocean, so you've got to either lunge over the water or just slog through and run the whole remainder of the event with wet shoes. If you run the half-marathon distance you have to reach the turn-around point within a certain time limit because if you don't, the tide comes in far enough to force you up the cliffside.

Beach runs are great for training though because it is harder, but also lower impact than a road run. Bonus points if you run in the water. I'll go in almost knee deep so I have to lift my legs more to run.

I try to jog/run 3 times a week. Managed to ram a toe into a floor scale about a week ago. I think it's not broken. Pain is 90% gone. Done two 5km jog/runs this week. Will have to do one today or Sunday. Working out on Sunday so rather not have to run then.

Used to run cross country. I've never skipped leg day in my life.

You may be asking why I stopped running so often. Where I live you get funny looks for simply just taking a walk to the store. I've not time in my life to consider the risks and prepare for them just to run to the landmark (around one mile) and back

Anyone here enjoy night running? It's the perfect way to meditate, focusing on the rhythm while you're completely alone.
I would love to run somewhere at night, but my area isn't excellent for it unless I stick to residential areas and even that isn't well lit. I've had a nasty fall in a pothole that I didn't see on an evening run. But I've walked and skated at night and it's super nice as long as you're on a smooth enough path or have a flashlight. I've seen all kinds of wildlife that I don't normally see in the day.

Been starting out on running. I could only run just barely around half a mile currently, but hopefully I can more than a mile.

Plus, I get to stop by Waffle House at the end of the lap to get a drink of water
