The first few seasons of SG-1, I guess.

The whole concept is quite weird, IMO.

I've seen it up to season eight, then quit watching for some reason. That time loop episode was the shit.

Oh, I thought you said it *was* shit, and wondering if I was remembering it wrong.

Love the og film, with Kurt Russell and David Spader. It's one of my faves. The tv series are okay but nothing that kept my interest for very long.

Same never really watched much of SG-1 or any of the other shows. Won't be surprised if they make a reboot.

Stargate SG-1 was great. Atlantis lost a bit for me though.

SGU was like a bad BSG knockoff.

What the fuck is Origins?

Stargate Universe started out pretty shit during its first season. I believe the creators wanted to try something different. By the next season, the damage was already done and it was canceled. I thought the second season was actually pretty good. It's annoying that it ended on a semi cliff-hanger.

I didn't see the original Kurt Russell film until well after I saw the Mullet-less Macgyver show for several seasons. Even still, SG1 was great.. I even still liked it by the end when it became Farscape mk. II

Star Gate Atlantis annoyed me, but I heard it got better after I stopped watching. (Although I recently found out that "Rainbow Sun Francks" is the biological brother of Cree Summers, which surprised me, their parents are terrible at naming their kids..)

What are the odds that they got a dude from a show called "something something ATLANTIS" to play Aquaman? Pretty good I guess since it happened...

I have not seen any episodes at all of Stargate Universe. I didn't have cable when it aired, and I still don't. Is it worth watching?

The first eight seasons of SG-1 were pretty good overall. The fact that it didn't end with "Moebius" was basically the jump the shark moment; they'd clearly passed the baton off to Atlantis, then they had to get dragged back for two zombie seasons of Ben Browder and Claudia Black trying and failing to remember what show they were actually on.

Atlantis was good in an X-Files sort of way: the overarching plot got silly fast, but there's a ton of good stand-alone episodes that made the show worth watching. Michael was the only recurring antagonist worth a damn.

Universe is what happens when whoever's in charge loses the plot so hard that they forget even the basic structure of the show. It would have worked better as an original IP, since it's so thinly connected to the rest of the mythos (the Destiny could be a super-ship from basically any sci-fi precursor race: Old Ones, First League, Sith Empire, take your pick) and was such a jarring departure in terms of tone and structure that it really poisoned the well.

I have no fucking clue what Origins is.

SG-1 really is spectacular. Been rewatching it recently, and it's amazing how many episodes are good and are future relevant(I was considering skipping some assuming normal TV filler). I'd say seasons 3-7 are the real prime of it(though 5 is the bastard child, Corky Parker). They thought they could roll Farscape's fanbase in by stealing half the cast, and it has it's moments but really should of been something different.

Atlantis is good for like 2 seasons, and is carried by the charisma of it's cast beyond it's plot. Seasons 9-10 of SG-1 kinda fucked them over by making the Human's tech level too high for the threat of that show. Much more hit or miss, I never even bothered with the season finale.

Universe was trash beginning to end. They try to solve the Tech superiority issue by stranding them even further away than Atlantis. It had some ok premises, but the cast was mostly trash, and the plots were mostly recycled.

Loved it. Used to binge SG1 and Atlantis. Universe was pretty rad, but less so as a SG show and more as just a dark sci-fi. Really fucking like Robert Carlyle. A shame it failed, but no surprise it did considering how different the show was. Stargate was always a funny action-comedy kind of deal, with some really serious episodes. Fans aren't interested in a super dead serious sci-fi.

Not that there aren't flaws. SG1 was great until season 8, since anything after that was a blatant cash grab and with little to no effort. The Ori was also not that good of an antagonist, too similar to the Goa'uld. SGA instead was so god damn rushed, the show was starting to get really good in the last two seasons, and then they just ended the entire thing.

I liked most of SG-1, especially the earlier seasons when the Goa'ulds were actually a threat and not trashmob for SG-1 to empty their P90s while their eyes are closed. I really liked Ben Browder's character, he and Beau Bridges were a big breath of fresh air, a nice dynamic too.
Atlantis was fine for one or two seasons, then the Atlantis Expedition re-established contact with Earth and they became way too OP. The writers forgot about the premise of the show and turned it into SG-1.5, with MacKay becoming a caricature of himself and David Hewlett overacting. Removing Rainbow Sun Franks' character was a bad idea, especially since they replaced him with a bland copy of Teal'c. Teyla turned into a random extra in the background, the character had no purpose anymore, I mean what's the point of exploring the Pegasus galaxy if you already have the Midway Station, a regular connection with Earth and a fleet of 303s with Asgard beam weapons that one-shot everything?
I liked SGU more, the writers finally approached hard scifi although the pacing was horrible since most of them wrote the Atlantis crap so they had no idea of how to write proper character interactions. The show got better, the characters too, it was also the first time that a Stargate show wasn't tied to the US Defense so the writers were finally free to portray the "heroes" as morally grey than "Air Force = good, IOA = bad". Then MGM went into bankruptcy and Syfy cancelled it. Robert Carlyle and Louis Ferreira are really great actors.
To me, the biggest problem in the Stargate tv franchise was the lack of proper world building as Earth started to acquire more and more tech and power. SGU tried to fix the Lucian Alliance by adding more layers to it than simply being a space mafia with ridiculous characters making fortune on space corn after the fall of the Goa'ulds.

As for Stargate: Origins... Let's not talk about it.

The first eight seasons of SG-1 were pretty good overall. The fact that it didn't end with "Moebius" was basically the jump the shark moment
I agree, it should've ended with the two-parter, "Reckoning".
Originally what became the 9th and 10th season of SG-1 was supposed to be a new spin-off called Stargate Command. The show would've been more SGC-focused, as it started with the 8th season. I think we would've seen more SG teams, etc. basically what Stargate Atlantis didn't do.

Won't be surprised if they make a reboot.
Brad Wright was in talks with MGM last year on a possible new Stargate show.
