Apple removes American Civil War Games due to the Confederate Flag -

I don't know what forum was appropriate to post this but I thought that since it is civil war games, I decided to post it here in the Games forum. If this thread belongs in news & events or in the confederate flag thread in deep discussion, then move please.

Getting to the subject, Apple decided to remove Civil War games due to the use of the Confederate flag. Most if not all would know that the Confederate flag has came under fire due to the church shooting that occurred in South Carolina in which a racist shot and killed 9 church goers. Since Apple is removing Civil War games that have the Confederate flag, this sort of thing would prompt discussion, especially with those that note on how some games have you fight Nazis that have the Nazi swastika and that a Civil War game with a Confederate flag can be different from a modern day building having the Confederate flag on it.

*Note: Just to leave this here, the Confederate flag controversy has reached other things. Not just with Apple removing games that have the flag itself but also, the Confederate flag thread in Deep Thoughts mentioned retailers such as Walmart no longer selling Confederate flag merchandise (that is a different case since products such as the flag itself can be sold for reasons other than Historical reenactment) along with some online articles mentioning the Duke of Hazzard General Lee losing its flag. All I will say about this is that this controversy may as well have one take some different stances such as being against the flag but not wanting it removed in a game that tries to be 100% historically accurate.

I think the issue is that Apple did a "kill and ask questions later" than actually looking if the games were actually white supremacy propaganda or just having the flag as a faction symbol.

In other words, they would fuck innocent developers before actualy curating their fucking store.

i don't even get why people do shit like this.
it doesn't matter what you think of the confederate flag as it is now.
it's irrelevant in a game.
you are going to someone else's place.
it's like going to someone else's house or a museum and saying "i don't like that, could you please remove it"

Yeah, that is the thing. In a game or movie, the flag would be used to help reinforce who this faction is in case we see them again or when we are introduced to them, not to mention help back up the any sort of historical element there is to said factions, whether it is the Confederacy or the Union. And with the case of museums, it helps us know what their flag looks like along with any other symbols they had. Removing them can make trying to understand what they look like could be harder since one saying "stars and bars" could make one think more of the modern day American flag than the Confederate flag.
