Apple shitheads do away with escape key -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Looking into some solutions.

New Macbooks are coming on Thursday, and while we've had a pretty good idea of what to expect, Apple has unwittingly spilled the beans. Some images in the latest update to macOS, spotted by the folks at MacRumors, show a Macbook with a strip of touch-buttons and a fingerprint scanner. Cool beans! What they don't show is an Escape key, and that has a lot of people—particularly programmers—freaking out.

What an asshole move. This basically fucks anyone who uses vi or vi-like editors.

My portfolio teacher was always really big on evangelizing Apple products, saying they had so much functionality and that PC people needed to get over our complex about them, and that he even bought a macbook for the sole purpose of using to look good in an interview. He was also a massive faggot.
What portfolio? Portfolio as in art or portfolio as in finance?
Either way it is faggy.

"It's not a fuck-up, it's COURAGE!"
—Tim Cook, probably

It basically makes no sense. Apple has done away with stuff before, usually for some actual reason. Floppy drives really were obsolete. Arguably, so were CD/DVD drives. I haven't really missed either much. Even the controversial headphone jack took up a fair amount of real estate in a small device like a phone.

But why the fucking Escape key? Does this make the keyboard any smaller? Not really. As far as I can tell there's absolutely no advantage to it whatsoever except it breaks things for programmers. As if they haven't done enough to discourage people from creating applications for their nightmarishly developer-hostile systems.

In theory it was a class where we learned to assemble an art portfolio and market ourselves as artists, but it was painfully obvious he got hired through a lot of brown- nosing rather then qualifications.

It kind of pisses me off when someone manages to fuck up a class like that. It's the kind of shit where you could just take a class taught by someone competent and basically rip it off and teach that yourself.

It's part of the reason why I stick with PC. You can just do more with it, whereas with Macs, all you really can do is run the internet and some creative programs. Both of which can be done using the PC anyway.

And as you said, removing the ESC key literally does nothing except break everything logical about programs and give developers more headaches.

I started using a PC 20 years ago, I never looked back!

Their competition just had to release Al-Qaeda's favorite phone at this exact time.

They just announced the new macbook has no function keys either. They replaced it with an emoji touchbar

http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-macbook-pro-touch-bar-makes-no-sense-2016-10

I guess that does explain it actually cutting down real estate, considering the Escape and function keys are in the same row.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur for being one of the few people left who constantly use function keys. I don't think so, though. I think this is going to piss off coders and similar autists something fierce.
